Kansas Class of 2022 Rankings Update

The PBR Kansas 2022 Class Rankings have been updated after a baseball packed summer and active begging of the fall. Through loaded events and talent rich tournaments at our new Creekside facility and Lakepoint where many KS teams traveled to compete, we were able to get our eyes on more prospects more times than ever before. Check out the top prospects, risers, newcomers, and fully expanded rankings, below.

The Top- The top of the KS 2022 rankings features two arms in the top 50 that are already garnering draft attention along with a college ready and physical left-handed bat.

Caden Marcum RHP / OF / Paola, KS / 2022Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 25 / POS: 7
The picture of projections, Marcum's 6-foot-5, 155-pound frame with a high waist and long arms foreshadow much more velo to come. Though he searches for command at times, Marcum has shown the ability to jump in with a five pitch mix, with each pitch showing elite spin rates. The four seam ranges 88-92 with ride and the two seam sits 86-88. The curveball is the go to off speed offering in the mid 70 with 12/6 break. The Tennessee commit also mixes in a changeup and slider as well. Though it appears his future will be on the mound, Marcum is a more than capable two-way prospect in the outfield where his athleticism shines. |

Ben Bybee RHP / 1B / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2022Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 26 / POS: 8
The Arkansas commit is is physically impressive on the mound at 6-foot-6, 220-pounds. The right-hander shows excellent feel for his body, repeating his clean delivery at a high rate and consequently commanding a three pitch mix. Bybee features an upper 80s to low 90s fastball paired with an overhand curveball and changeup as secondary offerings. Bybee showed poise and confidence beyond his years this summer matching up against older and elite talent and throwing up zeros. |

Dylan Dreiling OF / LHP / Hays, KS / 2022Physical and polished left-handed high school hitters are rare find, but that's exactly what Dreiling is. The Hays, Kansas product and Tennessee commit shows an easy and efficient swing from the left-side producing big power to the middle and pull side. A 6.9 runner and 85 from the outfield, Dreiling has a chance to develop into a complete five tool player. |
Top Newcomers- The summer of 2020 saw a flood of new talent make a name for themselves. These three below led the way with some impressive performances, jumping into the top 20.

Andrew Evans RHP / 1B / Olathe West, KS / 2022Another physical arm in the KS 2022 class, Evans stands 6-foot-4, 200-pounds and features a clean arm arm action through a high-3/4 slot that should allow him to continue to put on velo. Our last look at Evans came in the Midwest Premier Fall Classic at Creekside where he commanded the zone with a mid-upper 80s fastball and mixed in a curveball and changeup for a perfect game. The Kansas State commit keeps getting better and better and will be a fun follow in the years to come. |

Mikey Pauley C / RHP / Blue Valley Northwest , KS / 2022It's all about physicality and athleticism with the versatile Nebraska commit Mikey Pauley. At 6-foot-5, 195-pound lean and muscular frame, Pauley shows the athleticism to play not only behind the dish with low 2.0 showcase pop times and on the mound with a mid-80s fastball, but also in the outfield as a 6.8 runner. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows pop and leverage at the plate with a tee exit velo of 92 mph. |

Carter Bergman C / 3B / Basehor-Linwood, KS / 2022One of the top uncommitted players in the class, Bergman shows some quick twitch athleticism especially for a catcher. Bergman shows a near 7 flat 60 and showcase pop times as low a 1.94 from behind the dish. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows a simple swing that should play up with added strength. |
Top Risers- As with every season that goes by, many players take major leaps physically and developmentally. Below are some of the biggest risers since our last rankings.

Braden Dinkel SS / C / Manhattan, KS / 2022Dinkel is a 5-foot-8, 165-pound skilled middle infielder. Dinkel shines in the infield with advanced footwork and soft hands, creating clean angels to the ball and making accurate throws to first from multiple arm angels at nearly 80 mph. Offensively, the right-handed hitter barreled most balls in BP and collected hits in KS Underclass games with a simple, middle of the field approach, with a top exit velo of 87 mph. Dinkel has risen 30 spots in this ranking. |

Ryan Borberg SS / RHP / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2022A physical 6-foot-2, 190-pound two-way prospect that shows promise on the mound and with the bat. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows pop to the middle and pull side with rhythm in his hands and big leg drive. Defensively, Borberg likely projects best at the hot corner at the next level with soft hands and plenty of strength and accuracy in the arm. On the mound, the right-hander typically fills up the zone with a mid 80s fastball. Borberg rises up nearly 20 spots in this rendition of the rankings. |

Braden Hoffman OF / OF / Lawrence , KS / 2022With the addition of size, strength, and speed, Hoffman shoots up the rankings in this edition. The 6-foot, 180-pound outfielder ran a sub 7 60 and showed an 89 exit velo in BP on Trackman with a swing that will play at the next level at the MOKAN summer Trials. |
