New England Insider: Updated Class of 2018 Player Rankings (August)

In our second player rankings of the 2018 class we take a look at the top 190+ players in the New England Region. We have seen numerous prospects over the past spring and summer at PBR events, local workouts and games from across the region, and a lot of time and thought put in from our staff with these updated rankings.

That being said, we have had the pleasure of seeing a number of solid players this past spring and summer. Prospects are popping up left and right, making velocity jumps, improving 60-yard dash times and showing more power with the bat.

Covering six states, New England is a prime area for legit baseball talent and now we would like to bring to you the updated 2018 Player Rankings.

TOP OF THE CLASS

Shane SmithGrant Lavigne, left-handed hitting first baseman from Bedford High School in New Hampshire still remains at the top of the class. Posted legit offensive numbers this past spring season.

Patrick Winkel, left-handed hitting catcher from Amity High School displays a plus bat remains at the top of the rankings.

Ryan Cusick, lanky right-hander from Lincoln Sudbury High School in Massachusetts  has been up to 89 with plus spin. Projects to be a serious arm down the road. 

Shane Smith (pictured right), big and athletic right-hander from Governor’s Academy continues to develop, showing improved command of all 3 pitches.

Cody Morissette, left-handed hitting infielder from Exeter High School in New Hampshire displays athletic actions in the field and a smooth stroke from the left-side of the dish

THE NEWCOMERS

Sean BurkeSean Burke (pictured right), right-handed pitcher out of St John’s Shrewsbury pitched in the upper-80s. The slot is plus ¾ and he is super athlete. 

Steven Hajjar, 6-foot-4 left-hander out of Central Catholic High School is long,lanky and very projectable. The frame has plus projection to it as he pitches in the low-80s now with more in the tank. 

Steven Walker, athletic right-handed pitcher from Milton Academy. On the mound, he projects as a bullpen guy. The fastball is 87-89 now with plus action to it, showed a slider in the upper-70s as well. Showed good athleticism in the outfield as well.

Jack Pawloski, Lexington High School in Massachusetts showed potential on the mound this summer. Big left-handed pitcher who also showed potential in the outfield.

Mason St. Pierre, 6-foot quick armed right-hander out of Westfield High School in Massachusetts opened up eyes with his potential on the mound. 

Bo Brutti, lanky right-hander out of South Kingstown High School in Rhode Island is a projectable guy to keep an eye on.

THE RISERS

Dillon LifrieriDillon Lifrieri (pictured right), right-handed hitting outfielder from Wilton High School in Connecticut jumps up in the rankings. He is coming off being named MVP of the Future Games as he tore it up with the bat.

Jake Gustin, left-handed hitting infielder from Peabody Vets High School in Massachusetts climbs the rankings. Has turned himself into quite the player, improved his running, throwing and really swung the bat well in the summer

Jimmy Sullivan, left-handed hitting outfielder from Wethersfield High School in Connecticut made a major jump this summer. At 6-foot-4, 190-pounds he exhibits plus athleticsm and tools.

Daniel Fallacaro, right-handed hitting catcher from Fairfield Prep made a name for himself out in Indianapolis. Threw the ball extremely well from behind the dish and showed a smooth stroke in the game.
