The LakePoint Fall Invite took place this past weekend, September 13th through the 15th. Nearly 60 teams from an Upper and Underclass division came to LakePoint Sporting Community in Emerson, GA to compete. Today, we present to you the Upperclass Scout Blog. The Scout Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from the PBR Scouting Staff during the tournament. Featured in the blog is information unsigned prospects, draft prospects and anything else that is notable. We provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, velocities, pop times, home to first times and more. Canes Southeast 17U

Colton Cosper, LHP, Carrollton, 2021
6-foot-1, 160 pound left-handed pitcher, lean, lanky frame. Approaches the game in a business like manner, no emotion, gets the ball and attacks. Short arm action with a low draw, gets out front quickly to a ¾ slot. Little effort in drop and drive delivery. Fastball sat 81-83, flashed short run, enough to induce weak contact. Slider, short later movement, 70-72. Highly competitive southpaw, does not back down.


Parker Willis, SS, Carrollton, 2021
5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder, a lean athlete. Stuck out on the very first day of the weekend for the consistent loud contact he made, routinely put together quality at-bats throughout the weekend as well. Takes a line drive approach at the plate, uses the entire field hitting the ball where it is pitched. Open setup, long strie, hands start low and load up, hits on his front foot.


Samuel Simpson, IF/RHP, Carrollton, 2021
6-foot-1 160 pounds. Had electric stuff on the mound in the semi-final game against a strong Triton Rays offense. FB was up to 90, he say around 88 most of his outing. Effortless delivery, with a loose arm. Stays on the back side well, and has a lot more left in the tank. Seemed he had 2 different breaking balls. One that he flipped over for a strike, and one that was high spin that he used for a swing and miss. 


Eli Runyan, LHP/OF, Carrollton, 2021
South Alabama commit. 5-foot-10, 150 pound left-handed hitter. Easy, simple swing; hard contact to all fields. Dynamic player that runs well on the bases and covers ground in outfield. One of the more interesting outfielders in the state. Had a very strong showing all weekend. Hopped on the mound on Saturday for a brief appearance before a minor knee injury forced hin out of the game. Long arm action, reaches back showing behind, accelerates to ¾ slot. Drop and drive, strides towards the first base side of the mound, finishes hard on plant leg, whipping backside around to the point where he is square to third base. Fastball sat 82-83.
Peyton Sower, 1B, Union Grove, 2020
Strong-bodied left-handed hitting first baseman at 6-foot-3, 205.  Leg kick trigger with hand load to follow. Stays on balls well, had a quick, mature swing. Does damage to pitches up-in-the-zone and takes healthy hacks on fastballs. Very good uncommitted bat.

Bishop Woods, 2020, Carrollton, 2020
Queens University commit. At 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, Woods is an imposing presence on the mound. Had a very athletic, strong frame and moves well on the mound. Very aggressive arm speed throughout delivery. Utilizes lower-half incredibly well as he works towards the plate. Fastball comes out of hand well at 84-87; late life. Showed a very strong slider that saw many swing-and-misses. Has sharp, wipeout bite at 72-74 mph.

Coastal Stars 2020 Premier

Ian Alonso, RHP, Rockdale County, 2020
6-foot-1, 195 pounds; athletic body. Controlled delivery from an OH arm slot. Stays on-line throughout delivery and maintains balance. FB worked 80-82 with low, cutting action. Mainly worked low in the zone and consistently hit spots. Missed barrels throughout outing.

 

Coastal Stars 2020 Prospects

Ethan Morgan, SS, Houston County, 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder, broad shoulders, still filling out frame. Hits from a balanced setup with an athletic bend in his knees, leg kick timing trigger, shifts weight back through lower half and loads hands back, good balance. Line drive type hiteer, barrel works flat through the zone, flashed hard contact. An offensive catalyst for the Coastal Stars all weekend.


The Diamond Dawgs


Trent Wimmer, IF, Wilson Central, 2020 
Athletic sized IF with good range. Good lefty swing at the plate. He stays back well, and has quick hands. Had a good 2-strike approach in the quarter-final game to shoot one through the 6 hole, and drive in a run. The lefty hitting shortstop would be a great addition to a team looking to add athletic players with a strong foundation. 


Heath Kuykendall, SS, Warren Count, 2020
6-foot 165lbs Uncommitted SS that has a long a good tools to work with. He is an athletic player than get the job done at SS. He has a strong frame that shows he has some pop at the plate. Gets good extension, and has a quiet load that allows him to make solid contact. A good all around player. Drove in a couple key runs for the Dawgs in a close ball game. 


Chase Birdwell, C, Lebanon (TN), 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher, strong, durable frame, gets the most out of it. Defensively, possesses an advanced skill set behind the dish, very flexible in his ankles and hips, allowing for a compact setup, moves well laterally and a good blocker. Strong arm, traditional action, short and over-the-top, quick transfers and footwork, gets rid of it. Threw a runner out from his knees, 2.25 down to second, clocked at 2.02 between innings. Offensively, open setup, barrel starts on shoulder, long stride, wraps on load, remains balanced through contact. Gap-to-gap type hitter with some pull-side pop, barrel has an uphill trajectory through the zone, flashed the ability to drive it with quick bat speed.
Nick Baker, RHP, Wilson Central (TN), 2020
6-foot-1, 230-pounds, durable build, room to firm up frame, right-handed pitcher. Short, continuous arm action, high ¾ slot. Tilt and topple delivery, stays tall on the back-side with little to no break in his back leg, some cross-body action, finishes crossing over. Fastball played at 81-83, located the pitch to all areas of the zone. Good feel for sweeping curveball at 65-69, effective with.
Southern Squeeze


Caleb Gallant, RHP, Cardinal Newman(SC), 2020
5-foot-11,155-pounds. The righthander who has been up to 88 in the past worked mid 8s today topping at 86 a couple times. He had a whippy arm action that showed some looseness in the arm as well, he flashed a slider at 77-78 but mainly tried to pitch off the fastball. The slider was good enough to be used more but Gallant stuck with a heavy barrage of fastballs in the outing. Mechanically he changed timing at leg lift a couple times and tried to take a smooth slow methodical approach to firing him. Fastball command went at times but he found the zone enough for the SQZ.

Ben Abernathy, SS/RHP Hayden HS (AL), 2020
5-foot-10,160-pounds, right-handed hitter, natural athlete. The West Virginia commit played center field and shortstop throughout the tournament, took quality at-bats all tournament. He created some havoc with his feet as well stealing a couple bags and found barrel late in the game putting a double in the right center gap that was 88 off the bat. He coasted to a 8.7 time from home to second on the double. Hopped on the mound for a short relief appearance and was electric. Ultra quick arm speed, small stab on the back-side, gets out front to a ¾ slot. Cross-body action, aggressive delivery, pulls on front side hard. Fastball sat 85-87 with late run and sink. Feel for swing and miss slider at 76.


Hayden Stancil, Cullman HS (AL), 2020, INF/RHP
6-0,175. Stancil operated as a two-way in this game seeing time on the mound as well for the Squeeze. He was 82-83 with easy efficient mechanics and a solid smooth arm path, he showed a breaking ball at 70-71 a couple times but stuck with the fastball for majority of the outing. Offensively Stancil showed strength in the bat and pounded out a few line drives in the gap in this game. 

Carson Sorrell, Tupelo HS (MS), 2020, SS
6-3,180. The switch hitter showed the pop in the bat from the left side in this game going pull side bomb that measured 358ft at 92 EV. From the left side he had some loft in the swing and the swing stayed in and through the strike zone for a long time; he didn’t have any at bats from the right side in this game. Defensively Sorrell looked like an imposing figure at short stop with his frame. He showed good range and made the routine plays. His frame suggest more maturation will mature and Sorrell is a very intriguing prospect moving forward. 

Cade Barnett, RHP, Cullman (AL), 2021
6-foot-4, 180-pounds, right-handed pitcher, long, lanky frame, projectable build. Long arm action with a wide draw behind his back, quick acceleration to a high ¾ slot. Drop and drive delivery, works on-line, lands square, finishing up right with a cross over. Fastball sat mostly 85, ran it up to 87 at-times, armside run action. Breaking ball played at 70-73 with a two plane break.


Trey Mooney, RHP, Oxford (AL), 2021
6-foot-2, 201-pound right-handed pitcher, physical frame, projects well. Loose, easy arm action, ¾ slot. Deep drop and drive delivery, works on-line, lands square to the plate. Fastball sat 83-85 with some late life up in the zone. Curveball, 12/6 shape, depth, late bite, swing and miss type pitch, 75.
P27 Academy

Gunnar Erickson, RHP, P27 Academy, 2020
6-foot-5, 195-pound right-handed pitcher, extra large, projectable frame, carries strength in lower half. Arm works long, showing low on the back-sie, accelerates with above average arm speed to a low ¾ slot. Works on-line finishing with recoil. Fastball sat 82-84 with some run to it, kept around the zone. Curveball, tight shape at 11/5, 70-72.
Bryce Spittle, C, P27 Academy, 2020
6-foot-2, 225 pounds. Durable backstop who showed well behind the plate and offensively. Behind the plate, showed advanced blocking skills, keeping most balls within arms-reach. Caught a runner stealing with a 2.01 in-game pop time. At the plate has present power; had an exit velocity of 100 mph on a single.

Andrew Cotten, RHP, P27 Academy, 2022
Big, strong right-handed pitcher at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds. Had an impressive showing on the mound. Loose arm and effortless that works for a low-¾ slot. Fastball shows a lot of action from the slot; heavy sink and run. Fastball sat 82-84 and paired it with a slurve-like breaking ball at 72-75. Did not seem affected by runners on base; competitive pitcher.
Caleb Freeman, RHP/OF, P27 Academy, 2020
6-foot-5, 195 pounds; strong, lean, athletic build. Freeman showed well both at the plate and on the mound. Hits from an upright, back-loaded stance. Rocker load with minimal head movement. Showed present bat speed and a level path. Has a consistent, repeatable delivery on the mound. FB got up to 84 mph.

Carlos Anziani, RHP, P27 Academy, 2020
Michigan commit. 6-foot-4, 235 pounds. One of the more impressive arms of the weekend. Sharp stuff out of the bullpen. Full arm action. Uses hesitation on some deliveries, varying looks for hitters. Fastball command was good; sat 86-88. Had arguably best breaking ball of the event. When out-in-front and low in the zone, had incredibly late movement; 74-76 mph. Physical arm that will only get better.

Cameron Leary, OF, P27 Academy, 2020
Boston College commit. 6-foot, 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder, highly athletic, lean frame that projects to put on significant strength. Offensively, arguably the best bat seen throughout the entire LakePoint Fall Invite. Simple setup and approach in the box with little pre-pitch movement, short stride, starts with hands loaded back, gets into his lower half well. Showed an abundance of bat speed and the ability to consistently barrel balls as he hammered pitches middle/pull all weekend long. Barrel works mostly level, able to back spin effectively. Had maybe the farthest ball hit in the tournament, launching a mammoth home run 381 feet (96 exit velocity) over the right field fence against Southern Squeeze on Saturday evening. High follow left-handed bat. 


Triton Rays 2020


Austin Embrey, RHP, Russell County, 2020
Gulf Coast State commit threw 5 scoreless innings in the championship game. Fastball was 83-85 most the game. Good, sharp CB that sat around 70. He had enough control to flip over for strikes when he needed to as well as get it in the dirt for an out pitch. He did a good job of starting at the bottom of the zone, and letting it break down. The consistent arm angle kept the hitters guessing. The CH is there as well. He did not throw it much, but when he did it looked great. Good speed differential around 10mph. Threw it right on right and to left handed hitters. All around great competitor on the mound. If he can command the FB like he did this weekend in the Panhandle next year he will be very successful. 


Caden Sakey, RHP, Next Level Academy, 2020
Sakey relieved in the championship game. He was an intriguing pitcher. He has a unique arm slot, almost a high ¾. He comes across his body some, so for a right handed hitter it looks like it is coming at them. He was able to pitch in to the righty’s and was nearly unhittable. He had an 8 pitch inning with 2k’s and a ground ball. FB was in the low 80’s, had a lot of late life on it. 


TC Rushin, INF, Redan, 2020
6-foot-1 160lbs. Had quite the day on Sunday. Showed some durability, and toughness with the Rays having to play 3 games to win the championship. He was 100% perfect out of the box every AB. In the semi-finals he had 2 triples in the gap. Once he gets going he can really run. At the plate he pick the front foot up and gets it down. Lets the hands do the work, and can still hit for power. He went backside on an 88mph FB off a Clemson recruit for one of his triples. Nearly had a HR in the championship, he showed that he could turn on the inside pitch and hit it off the bottom of the wall. Look forward to watching Rushin this spring at Redan. 


Aidan Stewart, INF, Next Level Academy, 2021
6-foot-5, 178 pounds; lanky frame. Stewart has improved in every aspect since we saw him in the Future Games for Team Alabama. At the plate, the switch-hitting infielder has shown improved overall feel for left-handed swing. Barrel whip has improved, as well as overall fluid movements. Able to handle pitches all over zone and go to both sides of the field. In the field, has a very strong arm. Has flashy actions and athletic feet.

Damien Whitfield, LHP, Next Level Academy, 2021
A-Town Falcons

Caleb Collins, OF, Abingdon, 2021
5-foot-9, 125 pounds; skill set shows above frame. The versatile player showed well in the outfield and infield. Solid fundamentally, using athletic feet all over the field. Offensively uses all 125 pounds in swing; hits from wide-spread, crouched stance. Hands and feet work together on load. Swing stays level and has a low finish. Hands stays through zone, put
Luke Francisco, 2B, Abingdon, 2021
5-foot-9, 160 pounds. Offensive standout on the weekend. Good tempo in box, stays with approach. Bat path is incredibly level; line drive swing that produces backspin on balls. Aggressive finish. Solid player who plays hard.


BigStix Gamers 17U


Cameron Mobley, LHP, Piedmont Academy, 2021
6-foot 168lbs. Made his impact when he worked out of a bases loaded jam with 0 outs. The lefty has a solid build with a strong lower half. The FB got up to 84, sat around 81-83 most of the outing. Threw a heavy fastball that hitters could not get timed up. He flipped his CB for strikes really well. He could throw it at any time for a strike. Had an A move that shut the run game down. The delivery was effortless, and showed that there was more in the tank. 


Ethan Booth, C, Eastside, 2021
6-foot 160lbs. Was one of the most impressive catchers in the upperclass division. Noticed him getting his timing down with the pitcher before every inning, and began locking in on him. He did nothing but impress. His first AB he launched one over the left field wall. The swing is there, and packs a lot of power. Behind the plate he manages the game really well. He took visits when needed, and help the pitcher control the pace of the game. Strong arm, with fairly good footwork. Pop time was 2.2-2.3 in between innings. Really likes the way Booth could swing the bat. Super simple swing that still has a lot of power. 


NextLvl 17U - Patel


Riley George, 2021, Webb School of Knoxville, 2B
5-11, 155. The INF showed great actions defensively, he attacked balls with great angles and had quick transitions and releases on throws. Offensively he had multiple hard contacts and helped turned lineup over while hitting at the bottom of the order. George showed the ability to help this NextLvl team offensively and defensively.

Jackson McElvy, Allatoona HS, 2022, SS 
5-6,135. Even though of small stature and undersized by scout standards. McElvy didn’t take long to make his presence felt on both ends of the ball game. Offensively he collected multiple hits and was clocked at 4.1 from home to 1st showing off above average speed from the right handed box. He was a field general defensively helping turn multiple double plays and showing off good range and arm strength as well. 

Landon Underhill, East Coweta, OF, 2021
6-1,170. The physical LHH outfielder showed off good wheels on the day clocking in at 4.1 down the line. He hit at the top of the lineup and showed off some quick twitch tendencies at the plate. The hands were quick and the bat had some whip in the swing. He showed off good strike zone awareness as well finding barrel on the day multiple times and drawing free passes.

CJ Whaley, Kennesaw Mountain, 1B, 2021
6-3, 190. Another physical middle of the order hitter for NextLvl that did his job on the day. He had multiple hard contacts to the pull side and showed some strength barrelling up a couple balls into the left centerfield gap. The frame has more room to fill out and he will most surely drive baseballs further in the near future as he gets stronger. Defensively he had good footwork around the bag and picked multiple baseballs on the day. 

Hunter Gulledge, RHP, Paulding County, 2021
6-2, 180. While Gulledge has been up to 89 in the past, the righty only flashed 85 today, while sitting 83/84 for most of the outing. Command was very shaky with his offspeed and he was very fastball heavy. The fastball was good enough to get the job done today. Mechanically Gulledge had a very short arm action and a loose arm; it was clean and efficient and the righty is definitely intriguing as a prospect to follow.


Tennessee Nationals 17U

Hunter Merrick, OF, Farragut, 2021
ETSU commit. The left-handed hitting outfielder stands 5-foot-11, 180 pounds. Hits from open stance with pre-cocked barrel. Slightly low hand load. Easy swing with power potential; has quick hands. Very impressive at-bats all tournament.


Elijah Dew, RHP, Christian Academy of Knoxville, 2021
6-foot, 170 pounds; frame looks like it will add strength. Aggressive delivery up to balance point. Works down the mound with control. Had 4 strikes out in 2.1 IP. Used fastball to command outer-half of the plate; 85-88 mph. Threw a couple breaking balls at 79 mph; developing feel, but arm works at same speed as fastball. Solid uncommitted arm who has present arm strength with an exciting future.

Emery Wright, C, Knoxville Catholic, 2021
JD Price, RHP, Christian Academy of Knoxville, 2021
6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, projectable frame, will add more strength and mass as he continues to develop physically. Had an impressive outing against a stacked 5 Star lineup. Long arm action, wide draw on the back-side, quickly accelerates to a ¾ slot. Feel for three pitches. Fastball sat 81-83 with armside run. Changeup, showed fade action in the low 70s.
Parker Evans, MIF, Farragut, 2021
5-foot-10, 175-pounds, right-handed hitting middle infielder, strong athlete. Stood out offensively, balanced setup with an athletic bend in his knees. Consistently made hard contact with a simple line drive approach, level through the zone with good barrel control, uses the entire field. Does not try to do too much at the plate, high IQ player knows what needs to get done and executes. Led the game off versus 5 Star with a triple over the center fielders head. Came up clutch in the bottom of the seventh with a game-tying opposite field RBI.
West Cobb Raptors

Payton Lemons, SS, Hokes Bluff (AL), 2021
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitting shortstop, solid overall athlete. Continues to have a hot fall at LakePoint with another standout performance at the LakePoint Fall Invite. Offensively, balanced setup, leg kick timing trigger, hands separate on the load. Has a quick, easy swing that he uses to make line drive contact, driving the ball to all fields, consistent contact.


Alava Drakeford, RHP/1B, Harrison, 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting two-way prospect, strong lower half, good athlete. Quick, clean arm out to a ¾ slot, repeats. Drives down the mound with lower half, strides out towards the first base side, momentum carries him off the mound, finishes crossing over. Fastball sat 85-87 early on. Mixed in a slider at 72-74 with tight 11/5 shape.


Georgia Spikes

Cam Suto, OF, Union Grove, 2021
6-foot-2 165 pounds. An intriguing lanky, athletic frame that can really run. His long legs cover a lot of ground in CF. Goes back on balls well, and does a great job on cutting balls off in the gap. At the plate he is a contact hitter that has a short, compact swing. Gets out the box well, and does a great job anticipating on the bases. 


Anthonie Rodriguez, RHP, Marietta, 2021
6-foot-3 160 pounds. Lanky right hand arm that is very raw. Looks like there is a lot of room for development. The FB was 82-84, and used CB when he was ahead in the counts. Long stride down the mound, and gets good extension. What was really impressive was his back leg drive. He sits in his backside well, and gets down the mound. 


Titans Baseball 16U


Aidan Moza, RHP, 2021 North Cobb Christian
6-0, 165. Moza uncharacteristically struggled with command in the outing tonight; the stuff showed up however. He sat upper 80’s all outing, touching 89 multiple times while showing his normal quick twitch and fast arm. He flashed at times a very solid breaking ball and change up. Fastball command was his demise in this outing. 


5 Star 17U King

Dominic Flacco, LHP/OF, New Smyrna Beach (FL), 2021
6-foot, 150-pound left-handed two-way prospect, lean, lanky frame. Impressed on the mound in his start on Saturday against Excel Blue. Quick, loose arm action, continuous on the back-side, over-the-top slot, repeats well. Good angle on all pitches, stays on top, driving down the mound. Finishes falling off towards the third base side. Fastball sat 82-84, blew it by batters early on, getting swing and misses with. Curveball, 12/6 shape, depth, late bite, swing and miss type pitch, 69-72 (2400-2600rpm). Will be a follow left-handed arm as he continues to mature physically.
5 Star 17U McCray

Tyler Gerteisein, OF, Lawton Chiles (FL), 2021
6-foot, 185-pound left-handed hitting outfielder, strong, stocky frame with some athleticism throughout. Offensively, takes aggressive hacks at the plate using his legs and core to get the most out of his frame, uses middle/pull, can turn on the ball with pull-side pop, barrel works uphill, creating loft.


5 Star 17U Moss


Carson Pillsbury, RHP/C, Seven Rivers (FL), 2020
6-foot-3, 195 pounds. The Florida commit came out sitting mid to upper 80s, topping at 89 while flashing a short tight slider at 74-76, he cruised early mixed up both pitches. In the 3rd inning he lost feel of the slider and gave up some hard contact as Tri-State was able to get to him causing an early exit. The frame is projectable, the arm works and there should be more to come for the SEC commit in the future. 

Ethan Campbell, Mosley HS (FL), 2021, SS/OF
6-1, 180.The Florida commit paced the 5 star offense with a .1000 OBP while lacing a firm single early in the game. He showed good athleticism in the infield and was steady Eddie making the routine plays hit to him and turning the engine on DP balls. The swing is compact, short, long through the zone and he showed the ability to backspin the baseball.

Trey Jackson, RHP, Eau Gallie (FL), 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 198-pound right-handed pitcher, thick, durable frame, carries strength in lower half, has added a significant amount of mass to frame over the past few months, powerful look. Short arm action, has a slight stab on the back-side but arm remains continuously in motion with quick arm speed, ¾ slot. Ball comes out easy and given size and strength of frame, there is more velocity in there.  Fastball sat 84-87, mostly straight. Slider played at 70 mph. 


Jackson Dyer, LHP, North Hall, 2020
6-foot-1, 170 pounds; proportionately solid. Deliberate, controlledThrows from a H3/4 slot, easy arm action with some head whip. Fastball sat 80-82 with late tail. Threw slider to both sides of the plate and both LHH and RHH. Showed SL from two different slots at 66-69. Changeup came in at 68.

Dalton Hurst, INF, Atlantic (FL), 2021
5-foot-7, 140-pound switch-hitting middle infielder, lean athletic build. Balanced setup at the plate, leg kick timing trigger, hands start back, transfers weight to back-side, remains balanced through contact. Line drive hitter, advanced barrel control, good hand eye coordination, fights pitches off, barrel whips through the zone as he uses the entire field. Plays the game hard and with a chip on his shoulder. Defensively, rangey up the middle, arm works athletically from multiple slots.
Aiden Mastantuno, 1B/LHP, Fleming Island (FL), 2021
Florida State commit. 6-foot-2, 180-pound durable frame, will be able to add a significant amount of mass to frame as he matures, a legitimate two-way prospect. On the mound, he impressed in a 4.1 inning relief appearance. Arm works short and smooth to a high ¾ slot, repeats. Drop and drive delivery, rides lower half down the mound, stride opens up early, lands squarely on the third base side of the mound. Fastball sat 81-83 throughout the entire outing. Relied heavily on curveball, slurve-like at 72-74, commanded in the zone, numerous swing and misses and awkward at-bats due to it. Offensively, profiles as a power hitter, present bat speed, creates loft with swing and drives the ball. Hit a 355 foot home run, 98 off the bat.
Clayton Hodges, OF, Episcopal (FL), 2021
5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder, lean, athletic frame, strength in lower half, beginning to physically fill out, looks the part. Offensively, balanced, reverse toe-tap stride, high hands drop on load and cock the barrel towards the backstop, getting the angle of the barrel set early. Barrel works somewhat uphill, is able to get loft in swing due to this, present bat speed, flicks wrists through contact, gap-to-gap type hitter.
Wyatt Campbell, 3B/RHP, North Marion (FL), 2021
6-foot-3, 190-pound, right-handed hitting two-way prospect, physical build with a strong lower half. On the mound, deliberate actions, long, quick arm to a nearly over-the-top slot. Stays tall in his delivery, gets into lower half. Fastball played heavy at 84-87.

5-foot-10, 190-pound left-handed hitting catcher, physical frame with a strong lower half. Offensively, slightly open setup with a bend in his knees, leg kick timing trigger, hands start back, no load. Present bat speed, creates natural loft with swing, repeats, generates hard contact to middle/pull side. Collected multiple extra base hits throughout the weekend.

Jameson Nephew, RHP, Siegel (TN), 2021
6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed pitcher, proportional build with strength throughout, projects. Strong arm works out of a ¾ slot, long action shows low on the backside. Drop and drive delivery creates a difficult angle for batters as he strides heavily towards the third base side of the mound, release point is nearly behind a right-handed batter. Commands fastball at 85-87. Curveball showed 12/6 shape in the mid to upper 60s.

Jake Jewell, RHP, Lebanon (TN), 2021
6-foot, 160-pound right-handed pitcher, athletic build, strong lower. Continuous, circular arm action, shows some on the backside to a ¾ slot. Fastball sat 82-84 with armside run, busted in on the hands to right-handed hitters. Curveball, depth, 11/5 shape, some swing and miss on.

Ty Bailey, UTL, Lebanon (TN), 2021
6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed hitter, versatile defender, can play at either corner on the infield as well as the outfield, strong, athletic frame, projects for power. Offensively, loose hand and wrists at the plate, barrel whips through the zone at an uphill trajectory, takes aggressive hacks, finishes with one hand, showed power to all fields.

Caleb Guisewite, RHP, White House Heritage (TN), 2021
6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed pitcher, carries strength throughout. Arm works clean and loose on the back-side, has a small stab but keeps momentum, over-the-top slot. Tall and fall delivery, strides towards the third base side of the rubber, cross-body some. Fastball played up 85-87. Curveball showed depth, 12/6 shape, low 70s.

JT Stanley, RHP, Manning (SC), 2020
6-foot, 205 pounds. Battled well on the mound in outing. Uses a short, quick arm slot; hides ball well. OH delivery. Confident in throwing to both sides of the plate; used changeup more as the order flipped. Fastball sat 80-83 and continued to trend as the game continued. Changeup had deceptive drop at 73-74; looked to be best pitch.

Eli Zielinski, LHP, Daphne (AL), 2022
6-foot-1, 185-pounds left-handed pitcher, proportional build, strong lower half. Worked with such low effort in his start that it appeared he was barely exerting any energy. Arm is short and clean on the backside, comes out of a ¾ slot, cross-body. Stays tall throughout delivery with a short break in his back leg, lands square, finishing crossing over. Fastball sat 80-83. Curveball played at 69-71. With more consistency in breaking ball, can be a force on the mound.

5-foot-7, 160-pounds, right-handed hitting outfielder, compact frame with strength throughout, looks like he should be playing RB on a football field. Offensively, takes an open stance, long stride to balanced position, hands load back. Barrel works short and quick to the zone, plays level through, generates loft on balls put in play. 

Hunter Goff, 3B, Brunswick, 2020
5-foot-8, 180-pound, right-handed hitting third baseman, thick, durable frame, strong lower half. Offensively, swing works with an uphill path through the zone, looks to elevate the ball and do damage to the pull-side.

Hagan Banks, RHP, Calhoun, 2021
6-4, 185. The righthander showed a heavy fastball attack early running the fastball up to 92 and sitting comfortably 88-90 for his entire outing. Banks showed good plane at times and flashed decent feel for a slider. Command was iffy at times as he showed a tendency to pull off/fly open and yank the fastball glove side. When he stayed mechanically in tact, he commanded the fastball and made adjustments when needed. 

Brett Campbell, CF, Hampton, 2020
The 6-1, 175 lb outfielder showed a legitimate feel on the base paths creating havoc with good anticipation and a feel for how to steal bases while showing outstanding athleticism. He runs very well having clocked in at the (3.1-3.2) range stealing bags, defensively he had great reads, first step quickness, angles and captained the outfield making all of the plays hit his way.

Dexter Redding, SS, Arlington Christian, 2020
Lawson State commit. 5-foot-9, 160 pounds. Showed very well defensively over the weekend. Showed advanced actions with very quick feet that allowed to get best hop on direct groundballs. Used a long, strong arm to make plays on back-hand side. Showed ability to make difficult plays in-the-hole.

Jimmy Martens, MIF, Home School, 2020
5-foot-11, 150 pounds; lanky, athletic build. Switch-hitting middle infielder that has very active actions. Feet move well, laterally. Very quick first step; light on feet. Makes plays on the run. At the plate, hit balls hard on the ground. Came around pull-side at times. Very high energy player who played well all event.

Caden Hare, RHP, Smiths Station (AL), 2021
5-foot-9 140 pounds. Nothing beats an athletic arm that pounds the zone, and competes. That is exactly what Hare did during his outing. FB was 83-85, topped out at 86. A lot of life on the fastball. Smooth, quick ¾ arm slot. Simple, clean mechanics with a powerful finish. Arm is loose, and whippy and shows plenty of room left to grow and get stronger. There is no doubt more velo there. Showed great confidence on the mound, and was not afraid to go right at hitters. 


Nick Frazier, RHP, St. John’s College (VA), 2021
5-foot-10 160 pounds. Another straight up competitor on the mound for Tri-State Arsenal. FB was not overpowering at 83-85, but it had life and got on hitters quickly. Smooth mechanics with an athletic arm and motion. Messed with some timing that showed great body control and awareness. Struck out a guys with a double pump on the back step in the wind-up. Showed command with all his pitches. Pounded the zone and forced weak contact. Frazier is still growing, so the velo will come. 


Jackson Hower, OF, McDowell (PA), 2021
6-foot-5, 200 pounds. Hower was an offensive presence against 5 Star lacing multiple liners in the gaps and showing off the athleticism going sub 4.6 on the turn multiple times. The outfielder is lean and wiry and shown some whip in the bat. As he matures and adds strength, gap to gap pop should become a thing of regular occurrence for Hower. 

Spencer Craig, 1B, Cave Spring (VA), 2021
6-foot,195 pounds. Craig absolutely destroyed pitching this afternoon torching for 2 XBH over 90EV. He hit a 2B in the right center gap and then ended the game (via run-rule) on a absolute rocket to the pull side that was 94 mph and traveled approximately 355 feet. In his other AB Craig continued to show his strike zone awareness as he drew a free pass. 

Tanner Jones, RHP, 2021, Thorsby (AL)
The righthander sat 83-87 on his outing, was a lot of 86-87 early before losing some steam after a couple innings of work. The delivery was compact and was not super high effort. His arm worked efficiently along a short arm circle. He pounded the fastball effectively during the outing, he mixed in an 67-68 11-5 CB that he commanded okay. He backed it up a lot and struggled at times to just make it a quality pitch for him. 

Jacob Orr, SS, Thomas Johnson (MD), 2021
5-foot-8, 165-pounds. The Maryland Commit had himself a day and showed an all around game for Tri-State. Defensively he was very rangy at short and displayed good arm strength and accurate throws. At the plate he was an absolute terror with an OBP of .1000, the switch hitter only hit from the left side on the day but he impressed surely from that side. The strike zone awareness from the left side was tremendous, there was no swing and miss present and he hit 2 liners in the gaps. 

Gavin Abrams, 2B,Metuchen (NJ), 2021
5-foot-10, 155-pounds. The Clemson Commit was just another one of Tri-State LHH who impressed by finding loud contact multiple times. He had your typical left handed stroke that was short, compact and clean mechanically. Defensively, Abrams showed good actions and made all of the routine plays to him. 


West Cobb Giants Baseball

Xavier Williams, RHP/3B, Campbell, 2020
Big, strong right-handed arm at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds. An arm that we have seen multiple times this fall, already. Showed significant improvement in overall arsenal since last time he threw. Proved to be more of a complete pitcher with increased feel for secondary pitch. FB showed one-tick higher, sitting 84-87;T89. Carried velocity in second and third innings better than last time out, as well. CB showed very good depth; threw for strikes. CB sat 66-69.


Excel Black


Reid Gongwer, LHP, Chelsea (AL), 2022
5-foot-11 170lbs. He really impressed against a stacked Tri-State Arsenal team. A lefty with a heavy FB that has some sink on it. FB sat 80-82, and pounded the zone with it. He is still developing his breaking ball, but once he does he will be a big threat against lineups. The youngest pitcher on the Excel roster, he could have been playing with the underclass group. Showed maturity at a young age, along with grit and competitiveness. He has more left in his backside, he gets out in front a little early. Once he learned the get in the backside the velo will rise. Good looking lefty I look forward to watching develop. 


Mitch Welch, C, Alexandria (AL), 2020
6-foot 210lbs. Strong, physical catcher that had some pop at the plate. A strong, violent swing that stays through the zone. Smooth hands, and good separation on his swing. Plays the game hard, and works behind the plate. Strong arm with a quick transfer shows the ability to shut down the run game. 


Brennan Norton, IF/RHP, Cullman (AL), 2021
The switch hitting 3rd baseman was one of the biggest standouts of the weekend. His speed was impressive on the bases. Made all the easy plays and 3rd, and shows the athleticism to play anywhere on the field. Easy, smooth swings that connects consistently. Ideal 1 or 2 hole hitter. Anxious to see where he ends up. A straight up athlete that shows a ton of potential. 

Dylan Digangi, LHP, Alexandria (AL), 2020
Uncommitted, big body lefty that is a hard worker on the mound. He went all 7, and showed no signs of fatigue throughout the start. FB was 79-81 with arm side run. He was successful by going right at hitters, and working ahead. He threw in a ton of up counts, and forced the hitters to swing. Effortless motion shows that there is more velo left in the tank. Hard working, strike thrower that would be a great asset to any staff. 


Georgia Roadrunner 17U


Kareh Valentin, SS/RHP, Chapel Hill, 2021
Valentin has been one of my favorite prospects since the summer. A two-player that is a savvy ball player. You can tell he loves the game, and could play all day everyday. Smooth hands a shortstop with an effortless arm action to first. Quick hands on transfers, along with fast feet. At the plate he is a threat to bunt, or to base hit a team to death. Once he is on base he is ready to steal or delay at anytime. His velo on the mound is up 2-3mph since May. He was 82-83, and this weekend he was up to 86, and sat around 83-84. Shows he is working hard on developing as a ball player. 


Jose Andara, CF/SS, Central Points (FL), 2021
5-foot-8 185. One of my favorite players of the weekend. He played CF and SS, and showed off with the bat at the plate. Has a smooth swing, with a leg kick that has great timing. Just missed a HR in one of the games. He is a 6.6 runner that can cause havoc on the base paths. He makes the hard plays look easy at SS. Good range, with an even stronger arm. An all around ball player that could play anywhere. Passes the eye test at first glance, and has a high ceiling.
