Unsigned Senior Spotlight: 3B/RHP Santino Cervone
April 9, 2020
Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. This spring, we will be spotlighting several uncommitted seniors to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level in 2021.
Next up is uncommitted 2020 3B/RHP Santino Cervone (Canterbury). Cervone is an athletic two-way prospect at 6-foot, 180 pounds. He ranks No. 200 in the PBR Florida Class of 2020 rankings.

Scouting Report
Cervone has a stocky frame and moves fluid in the infield. He displays true hands and feet that play soft and through the baseball, aiding strong and accurate throws up to 85 mph. He shows a natural tendency to pull the ball at the plate but has enough balance before, during, and after the swing that he is rarely out in front and hits most balls on the nose. Cervone also got on the mound and worked efficiently in his lone inning. He utilized the lower half and engaged the hips to drive towards the plate as he ran his fastball up to 85 mph with a 66-72 mph breaking ball that showed depth at times.
Strong, athletic build standing at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds with advanced strength for his age. Offensively, he has present pull side power which should only improve has he matures. Ball jumps off the bat and has the physical tools to become a balanced offensive threat. Registered a 93 mph exit velocity in the cage which was one of the top ones in his class. Showed solid actions at third along with a strong, accurate arm across the diamond, topping out at 81 mph on his throws. On the mound shows a quick arm and featured an 81-83 mph fastball while mixing in a 66-67 mph curveball. Struck out a batter during his time on the hill. Athletic and competes on the mound. Interesting two-way player with current pull side power at the plate.
Stands at 6-foot, 170 pounds with a solid, strong build and a good lower half. Slightly open stance at the plate with a leg kick for his load. During batting practice he showed the ability to make hard contact when he was on time and drive the ball into the gaps. Strong hands. During gameplay, he took a ball on the outside part of the plate to deep right field for a stand up double. At times he can be out in front, but when he is in rhythm, he can drive the ball with authority. While he was playing third, he was aggressive to the ball and displayed accurate throws with carry across the diamond as he topped out at 80 mph.
Stands at 6-foot, 155 pounds with a lean, athletic build. Showed quick hands and above average bat speed at the plate. The ball jumps off the bat and he had a hard line drive single down the left field line during the game.
