Schuylerville Vs. Ichabod Crane: Game Recap

Schuylerville 11 - Ichabod Crane 0

In what started off as a pitchers duel for the first two innings, quickly took a turn for the worse for the Ichabod Crane varsity ball club.  In the bottom of the 3rd after back to back infield errors, Center Fielder Codie Brown battled back from an 0-2 to work a walk and load the bases.  Junior Second Basemen Tanner Dunkel stepped to the plate and delivered a line drive single to center, scoring Derek Wilson.  Shortly after SS Matthew Saddlemier would deliver 1 of his 3 hits on the day.  Saddlemire drove a long fly ball to right field, (a ball that in any other ball park would of been a no doubt homer) scoring 3.. The Black Knights would tack on 4 more in the inning, and when it was all over the score was 8-0.

Schuylerville got 5 quality innings out of their starting RHP Jake Petralia.  The senior struck out 4, allowing 1 walk and only 4 hits.  Although he wasn't over-powering with his fastball 78-80mph, he changed speeds very well.  He threw 2 different breaking pitches from a couple different arm angles, He hit corners, and has very good command.  All in all he was impressive.

Matthew Saddlemier had a big day at the plate going 3-4 with 2 runs scored, and 4 runs batted in.  Clayton Patrick added two hits and an RBI, and Freshman Carson Dunkel crushed an rbi Triple in his only at bat.

Schuylerville will meet Hoosick Falls this Thursday 4:15 @ Hoosick Falls

PBR's take
Bottom line, Schuylerville can hit.  They run the bases well, and capitalized on a couple errors early.  I get the feeling that if you make a mistake, they will make you pay for it.  They are exciting to watch, upbeat, and play hard.  I am unsure of their pitching depth, but one thing is for sure.  They beat a very good pitcher tonight in junior RHP Danny Yankowski.  Def a team to keep an eye on.
