PBR New York's Jurczynski Finds His Groove as Head Coach

Two years after graduating from Oswego State, 24 year-old Alex Jurczynski stepped in as the Interim Head Baseball Coach for Hudson Valley Community College this past winter - after serving as an assistant the year prior. Being a Head Coach at the college level takes a great deal of organization, leadership, and above-all-else a love for the game. Alex proved that, although still very young in his career, hard-work and passion can take ya pretty far - even to the postseason.

Jurczynski, one of colleges youngest head coaches, in his first year at the helm managed like a seasoned vet – completing the regular season with an impressive 20-10 record making the postseason – falling short in a heartbreaker to a tough Niagara Community College in the first round of playoffs.

Offensively HVCC put up big numbers, boasting a team-batting average .374 (2nd in the nation) and 3rd in the nation in OBP (.471) and slugging percentage (.508). Jurczynski was awarded 2015 Mountain Valley Conference Co-Coach of the Year just this week.

“I’m extremely grateful to Hudson Valley Community College for giving me the opportunity to coach an outstanding group of young men”, said Jurczynski. “Along with Prep Baseball Report (NY) for supporting me through the whole process this past year, baseball wise it's been a humbling time for me. It’s an honor to receive this award so early into my coaching career, but my assistants and players that battled fiercely all year are the real winners, I'm just really proud of them.”

Jurczynski is the Assistant Director for Prep Baseball Report (PBR) NY and will be coaching the Eastern Region team for the PBR NY Games this July 7-9. Along with PBR-NY Jurczynski will be coaching in the Futures Collegiate League for the North Shore Navigators.

“Alex has been a tremendous asset in the growth of Prep Baseball Report – in New York over the past 12-months. He’s a natural leader that understands commitment and real work-ethic. What he has accomplished so early in his baseball career thus far says a great deal about his character. We can only hope to have him involved with us (PBR) for years to come.”
