It is with great excitement that we release to you today, our most recent update to the Virginia/DC Class of 2024 rankings with our expanded Top 250 release.
We are going to take a look at a few players between 101-250. These players made a statement over the past few months at events and high school games, which has impacted their current ranking in the 2024 class.
Moving up over thirty spots is Freedom (South Riding) outfielder Edwin Sanchez. Sanchez offers a combination of athleticism and physicality. Can move around in the outfield and play multiple positions with the speed to potentially play center and a bat that can impact enough to move to the corners. Dynamic athlete with some ceiling left.
‘24 Edwin Sanchez barrels this pitch to CF for a single. 4.5 turn. Athletic with a quick level path swing.

Would score on a Cho double. @FHSEAGLES1 leads 2-0 B4. @PBRVirginiaDC @PBR_Uncommitted #PBRIsThere pic.twitter.com/2ejM2Yueda
Deep Run left-hander Sam Bennett moved up over fifteen spots. While Bennett is a bit undersized and does not have overpowering velo, he can pitch and get outs. The breaking ball is his calling card with 2600+ RPM on the curveball and the ability to create uncomfortable at bats for hitters on both sides of the plate. Bennett typically sits in the 80-82 range on the mound and can spin for strikes in any count.
Really nice outing for ‘24 Sam Bennett (Deep Run).

6 K’s in 2 IP. Worked around a BB and error in his 2nd IP. FB was 80-82 to arm side and can spin any time he wants. 68-70 w/ 2600+ RPM. Showed feel for a CH, but mostly FB/CB. @PBRVirginiaDC #PBRIsThere pic.twitter.com/fkzEXQ2VeR
Western Branch outfielder Jacob Wright moved up a dozen spots in the rankings update. Left handed bat with contact driven approach and ability to use the whole field. Plays the game hard and battles at bats. Corner outfield projection with a bat that offers some versatility in the lineup.
‘24 Jacob Wright with his 2nd hit of the day for Western Branch. Compact, simple, uses the backside of the field.
