2019 TOURNAMENT 12 PREVIEW: GREEN ROSTER

With Tournament 12 approaching September 17 until the 21st, we take a look at each roster, with players from all across the country with short clips on who they are what they could become this upcoming week.

PBR will be on location for all 5 days, bringing you non-stop coverage of the Tournament along with player updates, statistics, video and more.

This year players are spread out through 6 teams, no longer separated by their territories and no longer will they begin with the 1-1 count. We look forward to seeing the talent all week but for now, get to meet your Green roster representatives for T12.

Benjamin Adams LHP / OF / Vauxhall Academy of Baseball, AB / 2020

Report: An athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pound left-hander, Adams fastball works in the 85-86 mph range with lots of run and late life. Has had trouble commanding it at times this summer but tough to hit when he’s on. Has feel for his curveball with depth and spin that produces some swing-and-miss. Stuff is definitely there for the St. Johns commit.

Homer Bush OF / Carroll Senior, TX / 2020

Report: A Grand Canyon commit and Texas native, his top numbers from our friends at PBR Texas have him at a 6.58 sixty, 92 mph exit velocity, 88 mph from the outfield and is currently ranked 94th in the 2020 Texas class. Bush was an exciting athlete to watch last year from the sounds of it will see more of the same again this coming week.

Russell Derbyshire RHP / 1B / Leamington District, ON / 2020

Report: Derbyshire’s frame immediately jumps out, standing at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds and the 2020 right-hander committed to Wabash Valley College over the summer. Consistently 85-86 with his fastball to go along with a curveball at 75-76 mph that can be very impressive when he gets on top of it. Potential to become a put away pitch but will need to find the feel. Seems to be more in the tank for Derbyshire as he enters his senior year.

Carlin Dick LHP / Vauxhall Academy of Baseball, AB / 2020

Report: Dick is a two-way player who competes and gets it done with not the most flashy tools in the bag. He puts together quality at-bats while on the mound he changes speeds and location well, keeping hitters off balance and being able to do the little things that help teams win.

Jordan Fortin RHP / NA, NB / 2020

Report: Right-hander from New Brunswick with clean actions on the mound with feel for his breaking ball, chance to be an athletic arm moving forward and can make a statement at T12.

Austin Gomm SS / 2B / Port Credit , ON / 2020

Report: Recently de-committed from VCU, Gomm will look to stand out at the event after being named to the All-World Team at the 18U World Cup. Gomm has proven to be a very well-rounded SS with a 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame, running a 6.95 with an exit velocity of 92 mph and getting the ball across the diamond at 84 mph. Actions work at short to go with his soft hands and has line-drive approach from the right-side with some sneaky power to the gaps.

Max Grant OF / SS / Vauxhall Academy, AB / 2020

Report: Left-handed hitting catcher with strong frame and bat to ball skills. At the moment there is gap to gap power and defensively has carry to the bag. Was a standout at the 17u Canada Cap and has had experience playing at the Rogers Centre which should be a plus.

Jude Hall OF / 3B / GW Graham, BC / 2020

Report: Left-handed hitting outfielder from BC that can profile at the top of the order with a contact, line drive oriented approach. Hall runs really well and can see him wreaking havoc all week with his tools.

Dryden Howse SS / C / Okotoks Dawgs Academy, AB / 2020

Report: Howse is a third-baseman who hits from the left side. He’s always been able to jump baseballs and this week should be a big week for him to take that next step in his game and show he’s one of the best hitters in his 21’ class. Tools are there that is not a question, Howse could easily breakout.

Louis Philippe Langevin RHP / 1B / Ecole secondaire de la Seigneurie, QC / 2021

Report: RHP out of Quebec who has worked in the 84-86 mph range with his fastball and has been up to 88 mph. Langevin is clean on the mound with a repeatable delivery with feel for both his breaking ball and changeup. Very interesting arm that will pitch, throw strikes, and has room to add size and strength.

Graham MacNeil RHP / 3B / Brooklin , ON / 2021

Report: RHP who has been up to 88 mph and has worked more in the 82-85 range in game. Command of the fastball and being able to throw strikes with his breaking ball will be key factors for him moving forward. The arm and body work, if Macneil can pound the zone and let his stuff play, he’ll be just fine.

Kevin Millar RHP / Christ the King , ON / 2020

Report: Millar has made huge strides on the mound and is possibly the tallest player at 6-foot-7 to be on a T12 roster. He moves well for his size and uses his leverage to get downhill with his fastball in the mid to upper 80’s. It’s an imposing frame on the mound and Millar has big upside as he continues to get stronger and add more athleticism into his delivery

Nicholas Woodcock LHP / N/A, ON / 2020

Report: Left-hander who has short, compact arm path in the back while doing a good job of using his lower half as Woodcock has been up to 86 mph this summer and the curveball was much sharper with late action last time we saw him.

Kieran Pook OF / OF / ST Thomas Aquinas, ON / 2020

Report: Pook is a right-handed hitting outfielder with some whip and bat speed at the plate and is an adequate defender in the outfield. Plays the game the right way and does a lot of the little things right. There is some twitch and gap to gap power to pay attention to.

Evan Soules RHP / SS / Stayner Collegiate , ON / 2020

Report: Souels has always had a live and clean arm from the right side and mixes in a slower, more gradual breaking ball that has shape, but needs to throw harder. The stuff and actions play and Soules has some of the most upside out of any arm uncommitted arm in the tournament.

Justin Thorsteinson LHP / 1B / Langley , BC / 2020

Report: The Oregon State commit looks to have taken a step forward this summer on the mound, and was a reliable arm for the National team this year. He also swung the bat back home in league play and was a top hitter in league play. Pro scouts expect to get a big look at Thorsteinson at Rogers Centre

Julio Vasquez C / 3B / St. Benedict's, ON / 2020

Report: Big catcher from Ontario who moves well and hands work behind the plate. Works well into his legs behind the dish, goes side to side well and can handle his staff. At the plate, it can be raw at times but the frame will add more strength and his skills behind the plate make him an intriguing prospect.

Alfonso Villalobos 3B / RHP / Chene bleu, QC / 2020

Report: Right-handed bat from Quebec that has bat speed and pop with balance through contact, stood out as a young guy at the event and has continued to make strides, turning himself into one of the more premier bats from the right side in the country.

Russell Young

C / OF / Langley, BC / 2020

Report: Young has a typical catcher’s build of 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds. Most notable tool is his arm where he can pop 1.93-1.94. Has bat speed at the plate with a compact aggressive swing from the right side that creates some lift. Committed to Gonzaga, the 2020 grad will continue to get better as he matures and should be an interesting watch at Tournament 12.

Arlen Peters SS / NA, MB / 2021

Report: Athletic right-handed hitting infielder with actions on the dirt from Manitoba and has bat to ball skills with more of a contact, line drive approach. Chance to get a good look at Peters with the best the country has to offer.

William Watson RHP / 3B / David Suzuki, ON / 2021

Report: 6-foot-6 right-hander and Kansas State commit, came out the gates firing early in 2019 and we saw him take pitcher of the day honours at our ProCase. The velo has dropped a little, with Watson more in the 84-85 range than the 87-88 we saw, but the body and stuff still play up, interesting to see how Watson will finish the year.
