2014 Team Preview: Martinsburg HS

As we prepare for the upcoming 2014 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Team: Martinsburg
Nickname: Bulldogs
Class: 3A
League: EPAC
Head Coach: Josh Matheny
2013 Overall Record: 16-16 (Lost in sectional finals)

Tyler Mason, RHP/IF, Class of 2014 (Davis & Elkins recruit)
Nathaniel Hoffmaster, 3B/RHP, Class of 2014

Mitchell Henson, 2B/RHP, Class of 2015

SEASON OUTLOOK:  

The Bulldogs went 16-16 in 2013, losing to eventual Class 3A state champion Hedgesville in the sectional finals. Martinsburg will be youthful in 2014, but should be very competitive. They will have to replace a number of departed seniors including Chris Longdo (Glenville State) and Curtie Miller (Hagerstown CC).

Tyler Mason, a Davis & Elkins recruit, will be looked to for significant innings on the mound. He went 3-1 as a junior and is 5-2 with a 3.52 ERA in his high school career.

Mitchell Henson will be looked to for offense following a solid sophomore season in which he hit .344 with 31 hits in 32 games.
