BOONEVILLE, MS - The AL/MS Border Battle was held on October 14th-15th at Northeast Mississippi CC in Booneville, MS. This was an invite-only event that consisted of prospects in the 2025, 2026, & 2027 classes from both Alabama & Mississippi. These players went through a pro-style workout on Saturday and took batting practice using Trackman to record hitting metrics, then followed it up with gameplay on Sunday with pitchers throwing multiple innings. DJ Blackwood, Daphne (AL), 2027
Positional Profile: LHP
Body: 5-6, 140-pounds. Proportional frame, can add weight/strength.
Delivery: Easy operation. Composed, low effort. Clean down the mound.
Arm Action: LH. Longer arm strike into a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T77, 75-77 mph. Late cut allows him to get in on RH hitters with the fastball. Induces a ton of ground balls. T1973, 1783 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. Late movement with depth. Quality 1/7 shape. T2269, 2246 average rpm.
CH: 72-73 mph. Only about 3 mph different from the fastball but shows a ton of deception. Tumbles to the bottom half of the zone. T1691, 1615 average rpm.

Joshua Burrell Jr, Grissom (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/OF
Body: 6-0, 140-pounds. Leaner frame, athletic. Can add size/strength.
Delivery: Simple, clean operation.
Arm Action: RH. Higher 3/4 slot, longer arm strike.

Delivery: Easy, clean operation. Works well down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Clean arm strike from a high 3/4 slot. Easy and athletic.
FB: T80, 78-80 mph. Natural sinking action, was able to throw to both sides of the plate. T2110, 1918 average rpm.
CB: 67-69 mph. Solid 11/5 shape. Can throw for a strike and as a swing-and-miss offering. Able to mix in any count. T2621, 2516 average rpm.
CH: 73-75 mph. Able to throw in any count, shows late tumble. Plays just like the fastball out of the hand. T1492, 1385 average rpm.

Ethan Ray, Muscle Shoals (AL), 2027
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 5-11, 143-pounds. Leaner frame, long levers. Can add size/strength.
Delivery: Simple operation, works in line to the plate.

Delivery: Clean delivery, does a nice job using the lower half.

Body: 5-8, 150-pounds. Proportional build, stronger lower half.
Delivery: Clean, effortless delivery. Stays in line with the plate.

Delivery: Low effort delivery, can add a lot of velocity over the next few years.

Delivery: Drop-and-drive delivery, sinks well into the lower half.

Body: 6-4, 166-pounds. Leaner frame. long limbs. Can easily carry more weight.
Delivery: Compact delivery, no wasted action. Works well down the mound.
Arm Action: LH. High 3/4 action, hides the ball from hitters very well.
FB: T83, 80-82 mph. Typical LHP arm side action, creates downhill action. Gets a ton of swing and miss on the pitch. T2288, 2148 average rpm.
SL: 71-75 mph. Late, sharp action. Very tough for hitters to pick up. T2432, 2197 average rpm.

Body: 6-2, 170-pounds. Proportional frame, continues to fill out physically.
Delivery: Up tempo delivery, works exclusively from the stretch.

Timothy Will Fitzhugh, Bayside Academy (AL), 2027

Body: 6-0, 185-pounds. Still developing with proportional strength.
Delivery: Taller, balanced delivery. Clean and athletic.

Delivery: Effective use of the lower half, gets down the mound well.
Arm Action: RH. Higher 3/4 arm slot. longer arm strike.
FB: T82, 81-82 mph. Serious late cut, really hard to pick up for hitters. Disappears from RH hitters. T2396, 2254 average rpm.
SL: 73-77 mph. Can command to both sides of the plate. Pounded the bottom half of the zone, thrown with a ton of confidence. T2598, 2440 average rpm.
CH: 76-76 mph. Legitimate deception out of the hand, thrown with fastball intent. Late tumble, hitters swing over the top of it. T1449, 1449 average rpm.

Levi Pinder, Glenwood (AL), 2025

Delivery: Slower, methodical process. Stays in line to the plate.

Ayden Wilbanks, Kossuth (MS), 2026

Body: 6-0, 175-pounds. Stronger lower half. Athletic frame.
Delivery: A lot of movement in movement, does work well down the mound. Fairly high effort in the delivery.
Arm Action: LH. Lower 3/4 slot, throws across the body a bit.
