The Alabama Diamond Notes will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that had impressive weeks during their team's games. Special thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week. These stats are for games played between April 1st-6th.

 

Let's check out some of the top performances from Week 7 of the 2024 high school season.

 

Carson Loosier OF / James Clemens, AL / 2024 The uncommitted senior was 5-11 (.455) last week with two runs driven in and five runs scored. He stole three bases, walked three times and was hit-by-pitch twice to end up with a .625 OBP.

Hayden Markfort OF / James Clemens, AL / 2024 Markfort, an uncommitted senior, was 5-11 (.545) with three runs driven in while scoring six runs. He stole seven bases and walked four times to end the week with an OBP of .563.

Dylan Palmer C / RHP / Ashville , AL / 2026 The sophomore catcher was outstanding with the bat last week as he was 7-9 (.778) with five runs scored. Palmer drove in two runs and also stole seven bases.

Memphis Scott 3B / 2B / Madison County High School, AL / 2025 Scott, an uncommitted junior, was 9-15 (.600) last week for the 4A No. 10 Tigers. He had a double and three homeruns with five runs driven in. He scored five runs and finished the week with a .667 OBP. One of his homeruns tied up a key area game in the sixth inning and another homerun proved to be the game-winner later in the tenth inning.

Peyton Buck C / Baker High School, AL / 2024 The uncommitted senior catcher was 8-10 (.800) last week for the 7A No. 7 Hornets. He drove in three runs and also reached base four additional times via walk.

Jackson Beck OF / RHP / Gulf Shores, AL / 2024 The Lawson State CC recruit was 5-10 (.500) last week for the 5A No. 1 Dolphins. He had a triple and scored two runs. The senior also drove in five runs and had a stolen base. He ended the week with a .556 OBP.

Connor Gehr SS / RHP / Gulf Shores , AL / 2024 Gehr, a Meridian CC recruit, was 3-7 (.429) last week with two runs driven in, two runs scored and four walks. On the mound he tossed six innings and only allowed one hit and did not allow a run to go 1-0. He did not walk a batter while striking out seven.

Blake Westry RHP / 2B / Fairhope High School, AL / 2025 Westry was 6-13 (.462) last week with two doubles and two homeruns. The uncommitted junior catcher also drove in ten runs for the Pirates.

Levi Nickoli SS / RHP / Homewood, AL / 2026 Nickoli, an Auburn recruit, was 5-12 (.417) a week ago with three homeruns (including a grand slam) and a double. He scored eight runs and also drove in ten more.  On the mound he tossed two innings and gave up one earned run with four strikeouts.

Jack Ross 3B / RHP / Homewood High School, AL / 2025 The uncommitted junior enjoyed another stellar week as he was 7-18 (.389) with a home run (grand slam) and three doubles. He also drove in ten runs for the 6A No. 7 Patriots.

Braden Booth 3B / RHP / Bob Jones , AL / 2024 Booth, a Mississippi State recruit, continues to build on a special senior season as he went 6-10 (.600) last week with three doubles and a homerun. He also scored six runs and drove in four more. On the mound he went 1-0 with a five inning complete-game performance as he allowed one hit and did not allow an earned run. He struck out 11 as opposing hitters hit only .063 against him.

Gresham Baker OF / 3B / Bob Jones, AL / 2024 The Bevill State CC recruit was 5-9 (.556) last week for the 7A No. 2 Patriots. He had a triple and drove in four runs while scoring six runs as well. He also walked once and stole five bases.

Vincent Howald 3B / RHP / Bob Jones High School, AL / 2025 The uncommitted junior had a fantastic week for the 7A No. 2 Patriots as he was a perfect 4-4 (1.000) at the plate with a double and two runs driven in. He also scored two runs and added a stolen base.

Lawson Collier OF / WESTMINSTER CHRISTIAN ACAD - LOWER SCHOOL CAMPUS, AL / 2024 Collier led the 4A No. 3 Wildcats last week by going 6-8 (.750) with two doubles and three runs driven in. He also walked twice and ended the week with an .800 OBP while hitting .465 for the season.

Wyatt Shelley 1B / RHP / Headland, AL / 2026 The sophomore Auburn recruit showed the offensive power last week as he was 6-16 (.375) last week with three homeruns and a double. He also drove in seven runs for the Rams.

Trey Scott OF / RHP / Headland, AL / 2024 The Coastal Alabama-North CC recruit was 1-0 on the mound last week with a complete-game (7 IP) no-hitter and did not walk a batter while striking out three opposing hitters. Offensively he was 6-17 (.353) with three runs driven in.

Wade Shelley OF / OF / Headland, AL / 2025 The junior Auburn recruit was 8-17 (.471) a week ago with four doubles. He also drove in a run and stole two bases for the Rams.

Ethan Bucher SS / RHP / Minor, AL / 2025 The uncommitted junior was 9-12 (.750) a week ago with five triples and three doubles. He also drove in nine runs for the Tigers. On the mound he was 1-0 (5 IP) and did not allow a hit. He did not allow a run and struck out 12 opposing hitters.

Corey Richardson Jr. LHP / 1B / Minor , AL / 2024 Richardson was 5-8 (.625) last week three runs batted in and three walks. On the mound he was 1-0 (5 IP) with 11 strikeouts. He allowed only one hit while not allowing an earned run.

Sean Bucher RHP / Minor, AL / 2028 The eighth-grader was 7-12 (.583) last week for the Tigers. He had nine runs batted in to go with two doubles.

Caiden Dumas OF / LHP / Athens, AL / 2024 Dumas was 5-12 (.417) a week ago with a double and a triple. He also drove in three runs for the Golden Eagles to go along with two runs scored and three stolen bases.

Skylar Tucker 1B / LHP / Lauderdale County, AL / 2025 The uncommitted junior was 5-10 (.500) last week with three doubles and five runs driven in. He also scored three runs and reached base twice more via hit-by-pitch. On the mound, Tucker was 1-0 with a save while working a total of seven innings. He struck out 14 hitters and allowed three hits and one earned run.

Jeremiah Hutchins OF / Lauderdale County High School, AL / 2026 Hutchins, an uncommitted sophomore outfielder, was 6-13 (.462) last week with two doubles and a homerun for the 3A No. 1 Tigers. He also scored five runs and drove in seven more.

Miles Edwards RHP / SS / Lauderdale County, AL / 2024 The Wallace-Hanceville recruit was 1-0 (6 IP) on the mound last week as he allowed only two earned runs while striking out nine opposing hitters. Offensively he was 5-14 (.357) with four doubles and three runs driven in. He also scored six times as well.

Tyde Borden 3B / RHP / Priceville, AL / 2025 Borden, an uncommitted junior, was 6-10 (.600) last week with a double and five runs driven in. He also scored nine times and had three stolen bases. On the mound he earned a complete-game win (4 IP) by allowing two hits and striking out seven.

Wes Walker C / 3B / Priceville , AL / 2024 The UNA recruit continues a stellar senior campaign as he was 7-13 (.538) last week with two doubles and three homeruns. Walker also drove in seven runs and scored five times.

Matthew Drinkwater 3B / RHP / James Clemens High School, AL / 2026 Drinkwater, an uncommitted sophomore, was 1-0 last with seven innings tossed. He allowed only two hits while striking out nine. He did not allow an earned as opposing hitters hit .084 against him.

Luke Davenport RHP / 1B / James Clemens, AL / 2024 The Auburn recruit was 2-0 last week for the Jets. He tallied six innings on the mound and did not allow a hit. Opposing hitters hit only .058 against him as he finished the week with eight strikeouts.

Riley Tipton RHP / 1B / Madison County High School, AL / 2025 An uncommitted junior, Tipton was instrumental in the 4A No. 10 Tigers getting an important area series win last week. He was 1-0 with a save in the series. He hurled 6.2 innings on the mound and only allowed three hits. He did not allow an earned run and struck out ten opposing hitters.

Myles Johnson OF / RHP / Madison Academy, AL / 2025 The Eastern Kentucky University recruit was 1-0 last week as he tossed a complete-game for the Mustangs in an important area game. Johnson scattered four hits and only walked one hitter. He did not allow an earned run and struck out seven opposing hitters.

Hudson Marks 1B / Athens, AL / 2026 Marks, an uncommitted sophomore, was 1-0 last week with a complete-game (7 IP) win. He did not allow an earned run and only walked one hitter while surrendering three hits. He also struck out ten in the outing.

Ashton Morrow RHP / 1B / Moody, AL / 2025 Morrow was 1-0 last week for the Blue Devils. He turned in a complete-game (7 IP) effort while only allowing two hits. He did not allow an earned run, did not walk anyone and struck out five.

Colman Gann RHP / OF / Priceville, AL / 2025 The uncommitted junior was 1-0 last week as he turned in a five inning (CG) no-hitter striking out eight over the outing. He was one hitter away from a perfect game as the Bulldogs wrapped up a 4-0 week in a tournament in Louisville, Kentucky.
