Mizuno Pitcher of the Week: Week 7

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year, we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season and for the high school coaches who nominated their players for this award.
Continuing from last year, we will also be highlighting other players from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Wednesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Sampson enjoyed another stellar week on the mound and continues to toss quality outings for the Chiefs. A Seminole State CC recruit, the southpaw was nearly perfect on the mound in his start this week, and faced two over the minimum while striking out nearly two batters an inning. Going 1-0 and getting the win during his outing, the left-hander tossed a complete-game shutout going seven innings while allowing just one hit, no runs, one walk, and striking out 13 hitters. The Chiefs wrapped up an area championship this past week, and Sampson's outing was a big reason why. |
