Caleb Dameron
Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

The Colorado high school baseball season kicks off on March 7, opening day for regular season action under CHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2024 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Colorado Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2024 preseason coverage continues today:

High School: Lewis-Palmer
Head Coach: Brett Lester (9 years)
Classification: 4A
League: Pikes Peak
2023 Record: 16-7

Top Seniors:
Danny Cook, SS (Pepperdine): .535 BA, 4 HR, 10 SBs, 1.579 OPS in ‘23
John Raine, C/OF
Joe Rasmussen, OF/P: .294 BA, .880 OPS in ‘23

Top Juniors:
Alvin Jarrell, P: 18.2 IP, 27 Ks, .358 BA, .837 OPS in ‘23
JW Babbitt, P: 19.1 IP, 23 Ks in ‘23
Hunter Morgan, OF: .316 BA, .887 OPS in ‘23

2024 SEASON OUTLOOK:

Lewis-Palmer had an admirable season in 2023, and should be able to repeat some of that success this spring. Senior Danny Cook is one of the state’s top hitters and will likely carry the load offensively for this group while juniors Alvin Jarrell and JW Babbitt are in line for plenty of work on the mound and could surprise a lot of teams. Coach Lester has some strong pieces and experience returning for 2024, making them a team to watch in the Pikes Peak league and 4A overall.
