PREP BASEBALL LOUISIANA POWER 25 RANKINGS (WEEK 7)

The Louisiana high school baseball season kicked off on Monday February 19, 2024 with regular season action beginning under LHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of the 2024 spring season, touching on programs spanning all classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Louisiana Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Since Opening Day, our scouts have been out and about covering the 2024 season and will be publishing scout blogs and additional in-season content, such as our Power 25 updates, Player of the Week awards, Scout Blogs, Diamond Notes, and more.

The Top 5

 

The Top 5 has seen some subtle changes this week with two new teams entering the group of five.  Catholic BR is still our #1 team, for the eighth consecutive week, after going 5-0 last week.  The Bears had a massive come-from-behind win last Tuesday against Central BR.  Barbe checks in at #2 for the second straight week.  The Bucs won three games last week with their biggest coming on Saturday to district-rival Sulphur, who they'll meet again on Tuesday of this week.  West Monroe takes the #3 spot for a second consecutive week.  The Rebels went 3-0 last week by defeating Benton and Alexandria twice.  Parkway moves into the Top 5 for the first time this season at #4.  The Panthers went 4-0 last week with district wins over Airline twice and Byrd with another win over Glenbrook.  Mandeville also moves into the Top 5 for the first time this season with an overall record of 21-6.  The Skippers went 4-0 last week with four district wins over Fontainebleau, St. Paul's, Hammond, and Covington.

 

Risers

 

St. Amant jumps up to #6 in this week's update.  The Gators went 3-0 last week with a district sweep of Dutchtown and a win vs. Walker.  

+ John Curtis moves into the Top-10 this week at #8.  The Patriots a perfect 4-0 last week with district wins over Holy Cross and St. Augustine, as well as victories over St. Thomas Aquinas and Covenant Christian.

+ St. Charles Catholic also made a jump up this week to #12.  The Comets went 4-0 last week with wins over Riverdale, Metarie Park Country Day twice, and Brusly.
