In the Catholic League playoff semi-final for the A-B division Dearborn Divine Child took on Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. The winner of this contest would advance to Comerica Park for the Catholic League Championship.

Orchard Lake started 2015 Unsigned senior Greg Loukinen against Divine Child’s All-State senior Josh Hejka (John Hopkins commit).

Loukinen cruised through the first 3 innings without surrendering a hit racking up 6 strikeouts in the process.

In the top of the 4th the Divine Child bats woke up as 2016 Danny Blade doubled off the outfield wall. Hejka and 2016 Frankie Lucska added back-to-back singles, 2016 Torey DeMare hit an RBI sacrifice fly to right field bringing in Blade. 2017 Scott Combs hit a shallow fly to left field that was lost in the sun scoring both Hejka and Lucska allowing Divine Child to take a 3-0 lead.

Orchard Lake battled back in the bottom of the 4th adding a leadoff double of their own from 2015 Campbell Kinch. 2016 Drake Titus was hit by pitch and 2015 University of Michigan commit Harrison Salter drove a single to left scoring Kinch. 2016 Joe Carlini’s single scored Titus.

Divine Child scored their 4th and final run in the bottom of the 6th. Hejka helped his own cause singling to rightfield followed by Lucska’s single, Hejka was thrown out attempting to advance to third on the hit. Orchard Lake decided to intentionally walk DeMare in an attempt to get a double play. 2015 Hillsdale commit Jonathon Lapshan brought in Lucska with his RBI single making it a 4-2 lead that proved to be enough for the victory.
