The Mississippi Diamond Notes is back for 2024 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance. 

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

MISSISSIPPI DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 8

Tre Bryant 3B / RHP / Jackson Prep, MS / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 16 / POS: 1 The former Future Gamer and still uncommitted dual prospect went 7 for 9 last week with a double and 7 runs batted in. On the season Bryant is hitting .442 with 2 home runs, 9 doubles, and 41 RBI's.

Wes Pritchard LHP / 1B / Lamar School, MS / 2024 Pritchard earned our Pitcher of the Week honor after throwing 7 shutout innings on just 2 hits, while striking out 16! The East Central recruit is 4-2 on the season with a 1.60 ERA and 98 strikeouts.

Andrew Williams SS / RHP / Alcorn Central , MS / 2024 The Itawamba CC recruit went 4 for 11 on the week with 4 walks, 2 HBP, 6 runs, and 9 stolen bases to take him over 100 for his career!

Aiden Swales C / 2B / Pisgah, MS / 2024 The Hinds CC recruit picked up our Player of the Week honor after going 7 for 8 with 2 home runs, scoring 5 runs, while driving in another 8!

Kevin Roberts Jr. OF / RHP / Jackson Preparatory , MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 11 / POS: 2 The #1 ranked player in the 2026 class in Mississippi went 4 for 7 on the week with a home run, 2 doubles, and 4 RBI's. Roberts Jr. also threw 4 innings, allowing 2 hits, with 9 strikeouts.

Bankston Walters RHP / 1B / PRESBYTERIAN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 14 / POS: 2 The uncommitted sophomore threw 7 innings, allowing 1 run, while striking out 12. On the year Walters is 6-0 with a 0.68 ERA with 58 strikeouts and just 6 walks!

Jaxson Moore RHP / RHP / Harrison Central, MS / 2025 Moore had a solid start last week vs. Ocean Springs throwing 7 innings, allowing just 3 hits, 0 runs, while striking out 8.

Houston Green SS / RHP / Center Hill , MS / 2024 The Itawamba CC recruit had a good week for the Mustangs as he threw 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 11. Green also went 4-4 with 2 doubles, a triple, and drove in 3.

Jayse Jackson / Alcorn Central, MS / 2026 The sophomore picked up 6 hits in 12 at bats for the Bears last week including a home run, 6 runs scored, 3 stolen bases, and 6 runs batted in.

Drake Williams OF / Alcorn Central, MS / 2025 The uncommitted junior went 5 for 11 last week with 2 doubles and 5 runs batted in for the Bears.

Jackson Miller / Alcorn Central, MS / 2026 Miller added 8 hits in 17 at bats last week for the Bears, including a double, 3 runs scored, 3 stolen bases, while driving in 6 runs.
