FRIDAY, APRIL 19TH

+ RHP/OF/INF Kevin Roberts Jr. (Jackson Prep, 2026) is the #1 ranked player in the Mississippi class of 2026 and on Friday he showed off a few of his next level tools. The uncommitted righty got the start in Game 2 versus Presbyterian Christian and although he wasn't as sharp as he probably would have liked he definitely gave everyone in attendance a glimpse of his ability. He used a running fastball that worked in the 87-90 mph range early on getting mostly late contact or pop ups. The 6-4 205 pounder also showed solid shape to his breaking ball though it was missing up in the zone in the early going. His change up may hav been his most impressive offering of the night, outside of his power arm, as it had very good fading action while selling the fastball arm action. At the plate Roberts showed quick hands and present pop as he delivered a home run in game one along with several other quality at bats during the double header. On the season the sophomore is hitting .307 with 2 home runs with 24 runs batted in. Roberts is also 4-1 with a 2.66 ERA and 34 strikeouts on the bump for the Patriots.
