The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Pearl, MS at Trustmark Park as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Magnolia State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each MHSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

TEAM OUTLOOK

New Site returns 6 positional starters and 4 pitchers from a team that finished 17-12 in 2023 after a 2nd round loss to East Webster in the 2A state playoffs. Coach Luke Goff is confident his solid lineup and overall team speed will keep his Royals very competitive this coming spring. 

Top returners for New Site will be seniors JB Stacy (2B/P) and Ben Taylor (DH/1B), junior Landon Stanley (SS/P/C), and freshman Jayden Greene (3B/P).

Landon Stanley was a catalyst on offense last season, hitting .459 with 10 doubles, scoring 36 runs while driving in another 31. JB Stacy was big as well, hitting .370 with 30 RBI’s. Stanley leads all returning pitchers with 45 innings from last season and will be asked to eat planets of innings this season as well. He will receive help from Stacy, and Jayden Greene. 

Other players Coach Goff expects to contribute will be freshman Case Clark (OF/P) along with 8th graders Rilyn Lambert (1B) and Glen Ashton Jumper (CF). 

New Site begins regular season play on February 15th versus Tupelo Christian Prep.
