STARKVILLE, MS - The Top Prospect Games: Underclass was held on Saturday, October 28th at Dudy Noble Field on the campus of the Mississippi State University. This event was an invite-only event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2026-2027 classes across all parts of Mississippi. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated outings during gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we now take a look at the scouting reports from the event. First, we look at all infielders from the TPG Underclass. Check out the Top-5, along with the best of the rest.

Projectable frame, room for added mass Hit: RHH. Tall stance with relaxed hand set. Quiet load and small stride with fast hands. Level bat path and looking to use the middle to pull side of the field. 74.1 mph bat speed with 11 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 87.4 mph. 342' max distance. Justin San Miguel SS / 2B / Resurrection Catholic , MS / 2026 Justin San Miguel, Resurrection Catholic (MS), 2026 Positional Profile: SS/2B Body: 5-10, 159-pounds. Uber athletic, toolsy. Can continue to add on additonal size to the frame. Hit: LHH. Tall and slightly open stance with high hand set. Big, controlled knee lift into stride. Level bat path with aggression into contact. Head is a little tilted near contact. Big upside! 65.8 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 77.6 mph. 327' max distance. Arm: RH. INF-84 mph. Loose arm action. Defense: Easily approaches balls on the infield with good footwork. Solid glove work with quick hands for a good throw to 1st. Good range as well. Fun to watch! Caden Nelson SS / 2B / Lewisburg , MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 28 / POS: 5 Caden Nelson, Lewisburg (MS), 2026 Positional Profile: SS/2B Body: 5-6, 137-pounds. Smaller frame, leaner and athletic. Plenty of room for additonal size. Hit: RHH. Wider, balanced stance with hands set just above back shoulder. Slight preset load Smooth load and stride with level bat path and ability to spray the baseball around the field. Solid hands 64 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 81.3 mph. 335' max distance. Arm: LH. INF-74 mph. Loose, quick arm action. Defense: Polished look on infield. Works well to the baseball. Solid range and tranfers. Strong accurate arm. ATH: 6.99 runner in the 60.

Landon Swinney SS / OF / Tupelo , MS / 2027 Landon Swinney, Tupelo (MS), 2027 Positional Profile: SS/OF Body: 5-8, 172-pounds. Smaller yet proportional and sturdy frame, strong base. Athletic. Hit: RHH. Taller, balanced stance with hands just above the outside of back shoulder. Easy controlled load and stride with quick hands and looking to pull. Quick bat with a middle of the field, line drive approach. 68.4 mph bat speed with 19 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 83.5 mph. 327' max distance. Arm: RH. Hit: LHH. Tall, athletic looking stance with hands slightly inside back shoulder. Some tilt in the bat path from a mostly pullside approach. Solid extension through contact 70.6 mph bat speed with 14 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 89.5 mph. 341' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-85 mph. Loose arm action.
Defense: Bigger frame that moves well and should continue to become more mobile. Solid glove and transfers. Strong, accurate arm. Plus upside.
