Game Preview:  Both programs sit in the top two spots in the Delta League with Elk Grove 3 games back of the Wildcats this matchup will be vital to any title hopes they have as they will need to cut into the advantage Franklin has built up. The Wildcats have dominant both on offense and the mound over the course of the 2024 spring having scored 133 runs in 18 games while having allowed on 33 runs in that space. With 5 main arms handling the bulk of the innings the trio of Lopez, Wood and Pott have been especially dominating. Lopez currently sports as .55 ERA, 4 wins, 25.2 IP and 35 Ks, next up Wood has thrown 28.1 innings with 36 punchouts and a 1.24 ERA, finally Pott has totaled 14 total innings with 25 Ks and a 1.00 ERA. Offensively, 5 regulars for the Wildcats are hitting over .300 with Lopez sitting at the top with a .442 average, 8 extra base hits, 12 RBIs, and 20 runs scored. SO. 1B Minnatee has emerged as a rising star for the Wildcats with a .375 average, 5 extra base hits, 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored, in addition SO. SS Jason Harris has 8 extra base hits including a team leading 3 HRs, 16 RBI and 15 runs scored. Elk Grove has been consistently strong on offense having plated 103 runs just over 5.0 runs per game and allowed just 52 runs slightly over 2.5 runs per game. With 4 regulars in the Thundering Herd lineup hitting over .300 while SR. Groves is red hot at .441 with 9 RBIs 13 runs scored followed closely by Taylor at .381 with 5 extra base hits including a HR. The SR duo of Frutchey and Pettis have been workhorses for Elk Grove with Frutchey throwing 34.1 innings, striking out 54 and a miniscule .61 ERA while Pettis has matched him with 34.1 innings of his own work totalling 44 Ks, 2.04 ERA and 4 wins. If Franklin can sweep the 3 game series they would put themselves in a commanding position for the league title, but the Thundering Herd can tighten the race by picking up 2 wins or sweeping the series themselves.
