Los Angeles, Calif. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the SoCal Pitcher and Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from Southern California.

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes that will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Pitcher of Player of the Week.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

This week features Co-Pitchers of the week in the SoCal region as a pair of arms put together outstanding performances.

First, for Capistrano Valley Christian their SR. RHP Andrew Johnson threw an absolute masterpiece when he tossed a No-hitter in which he carried a perfect game into the 4th inning allowing just 1 BB while striking out 17 batters which is a school record for an individual pitcher while running his FB up to 94 MPH in the outing. Johnson is a USC commit who has also received MLB draft buzz ahead of the 2024 draft.

Sharing the honor with his own gem of the week is FR. LHP Luke Armijo from La Mirada who faced the #1 team both in California and in the nation the Corona Panthers and put together an electric performance. Armijo went the distance against the Panthers vaunted lineup throwing a shutout while picking up 6 K's on the day in the victory for La Mirada ahead of their big showdown with Gahr this week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

This weeks Player of the Week in the SoCal region is JR. SS/1B/RHP Braden Litt out of Temecula Prep who had an outstanding week of baseball. Litt went 9-13 on the week while crushing his 4th home run of the season which now leaves him 1 homer away from tying the school record in season. He added a double and a triple to his week while adding in 4 scoreless innings on the mound including 7 K's to help Temecula Prep to a 4-0 week.
