Ventura, Calif. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are fully underway with the Southern Section, Los Angeles City Section and San Diego Section all playing games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting a weekly game of the week.

This weeks San Diego Section matchup features a match up of San Diego programs who are looking for a shot at the Coastal League title when the San Marcos Knights face off with the Del Norte Nighthawks.

Game Preview:  A intriguing matchup between a pair of Coastal League title hopefuls in the Del Norte Nighthawks who are lead by Prep Baseball Super 60 alumni Addison Klepsch and the San Marcos Knights who feature 2 D1 commits and a D2 commit. The Nighthawks have thrown the ball very well on the mound so far this year allowing just 50 runs in 14 games while plating 77 in that time. For the Knights they have been dominant on the mound allowing just 36 runs in 12 games while featuring a dynamic offense that has scored 88 runs so far this season.  Klepsch in the top hitter for the Nighthawks amongst their regulars with an average at .393 with 3 doubles and 1 HR while SO. Richie Moore has slugged 2 HRs to lead the team and his 10 RBI's sit atop the Nighthawks offensive standouts. On the bump Hoffman, Kim and Kuei are all sporting ERA's in the 1.0 range with Hoffman and Kuei leading the Nighthawks in innings pitched and are each averaging over a strikeout per inning pitched and the Nighthawks as a staff average over 1 K per inning pitched. Meanwhile the Knights offensively have a trio of hitters that are still hitting over .400 almost halfway through the season in Farrell, Shen and Moran with Vanderpool sitting at .342. San Marcos can slug the baseball with a team SLG at .561 and Moran has clubbed 6 HR's while Farrell adds 4 and Vanderpool has 3. On the mound SO. Tsai has started the year off strong in the bullpen with 2 wins, 2 saves, 10.2 innings pitched and 16 punchouts while Vanderpool and Esquer lead the Knights in innings pitched at 17.2 and 25 respectively with Vanderpool punching out 18 and Esquer punching out 34. This will be San Marcos' first series in league play while the Nighthawks are sitting at 2-0 presently.
