Ventura, Calif. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are fully underway with the Southern Section, Los Angeles City Section and San Diego Section all playing games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting a weekly game of the week.

This weeks Southern Section slate features a full slate of strong matchups which made it difficult to select just one game in the Southern Section slate so for the 3nd week in a row we are going with co-games of the week. 

#14 San Dimas Saints vs. West Covina Bulldogs

Game Preview:  The Bulldogs enter the matchup in 2nd place in the Valle Vista League having scored 89 runs in the 14 games while allowing just 50 runs over the course of the season so far. San Dimas has been a juggernaut offensive with 148 runs scored in 20 games averaging over 7 runs per game while allowing just 53 runs in that span. The Bulldogs have 4 regulars hitting over .300 so far this spring with Gutierrez at .455 while Nguyen comes in at .394 with 3 doubles, 3 triples and 2 home runs to power the offense. On the mound Murrillo, Segovia and Marichi have carried the bulk of the work including Murrillo and Segovia sitting below 3.00 with their ERA and Marichi has been astounding pitching to a .31 ERA picking up 2 wins and 3 saves for West Covina. Offensively for the Saints White and Coleman have provided a power impact with each having hit 4 homeruns so far on the spring while White checks in with a .459 average and 27 RBIs. The Saints sport 3 more regulars who are hitting over .300 so far this spring with 2 more just narrowly below that line. On the mound Favela has been outstanding so far this spring having thrown 42.2 innings with a .98 ERA and 5 wins while Khansarinia has also been outstanding for the Saints throwing 20.1 innings with a 1.38 ERA, 4 wins and 1 save.

Game Preview:  This Ivy League matchup between the current 1 vs. 2 teams in the standings is going to be a battle of 2 outstanding pitching staffs with Paloma Valley having allowed just 41 runs over their 19 games this season while Moreno Valley has been nearly just as stingy with 56 runs allowed in their 18 games on the season. The Wildcats are lead on the mound by 5 arms who are sporting ERAs in the low 2.0 or below range with Baker, Weber, Smearer, Allen and Melendez each dominating on the mound. While the Vikings themselves have their own talented 5 arms who are performing well this spring including 3 who sport ERAs in the 1.00 range. On the offensive side Paloma Valley has plated 103 runs this spring with 6 regulars hitting over .300 and SR. Ayden Harrison topping the Wildcats with a .407 average including 6 doubles and 2 homeruns. On the Vikings side they have scored 111 runs with 6 regulars hitting over .300 on the spring and SR. Banuelos knocking on the door of .400 as he comes in at .396 on the season with 5 doubles. The Vikings are aggressive on the bases having stole 93 bases in 18 games with 6 players having stole over 10 bases already this spring.
