2024 Iowa Preseason All-State Scouting Reports

Waukee, Iowa - On Sunday, March 3rd, Prep Baseball hosted the 10th annual Prep Baseball Iowa Preseason All-State event at the SportsPlex West in Waukee. This invite-only event featured over 200 prospects from the 2025 through 2027 classes, including 125+ players that are currently ranked in the state.

The premier spring event gave us an opportunity to take a closer view at a number of Iowa's top talents, along with introducing us to some under-the-radar and underclass prospects that have made considerable strides recently.

Kaden Alstad 3B / Decorah, IA / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 20 / POS: 3 Body: 6-2, 210-pounds.  Defense: LH. INF - 83.00 mph. Shows improved footwork in field, glove is soft, has solid overall actions, arm has carry across infield. Hit: RHH. Slight open stance, clean bat path through zone, mid/pull approach, shows above avg. pop in bat to pull side of field  Power: 92 mph max Trackman exit velocity in bp.  Run: 7.35 runner in the 60.

Erik Anderson C / RHP / Ames, IA / 2026 Body: 6-0, 175-pounds.  Defense: 2.20-2.39 pop times. C - 72.00 mph. Quick exchange, solid footwork direction, inconsistent throws to bag. Hit: RHH. Square stance, easy hand load, aggressive line drive swing, consistently drives well to middle of field.  Power: 83 mph max Trackman exit velocity in bp.  Run: 7.27 runner in the 60.  Delivery: Stretch only, works off RH side of rubber creating angle to plate, slight upright on release, overall moves down mound well. Arm Action: RH. Longer swing post hand break; compact and clean out front. FB: T82, 80-82 mph.  CB: 69-70 mph.  CH: 77-77 mph.
