Inside the Rankings: Uncommitted Senior RHP's

Patrick Johnson
North Carolina Assistant Scouting Director

Inside the Rankings is a unique look through the eyes of Prep Baseball scouts, allowing players, fans, and coaches to get to know some of the top players in the state of North Carolina.  Rankings in the state are updated almost quarterly, as players are transitioning from one season to another.  Prep Baseball scouts will use the information they gain from Prep Baseball events, Prep Baseball Tournaments, game coverage, workouts, and practices to put grades on as many players in the state as possible.  With over 400 players in each graduating class committing to play college baseball from North Carolina, this is a state with a ton of talent.

Today we spotlight two Senior arms still uncommitted and fastballs in the upper 80's, Will Everett and Cole Bowie, lets see why we have them ranked where we do.

Will Everett RHP / 2B / St Stephens , NC / 2024

+88.4(mph) Max Fastball Velocity
+2286(rpm) Avg Fastball Spin Rate
+73.9(mph) Avg Curveball Velocity
+18" Avg Total Movement Curveball

5'11"-178lb frame with a quick arm, up to 88.4mph, fast twitch athlete. Commands the fasball well in the zone with slightly stiff mechanics. Curveball is top in the arsenal, has potential to be swing and miss with late 12-6 break. Has feel for the change up and uses it in any count. Has been the top arm on the mound for St. Stephens this spring, is one to follow the rest of the season.

Cole Bowie RHP / 3B / Holly Springs, NC / 2024

+88(mph) Max Fastball Velocity
+2212(rpm) Avg Fastball Spin Rate
+76.2(mph) Avg Change Up Velocity
+20.2" Avg Total Movement Change Up

6'3"-210lb pitchers frame, smooth mechanics with a long whippy over the top arm action. Fastball up to 88mph and arm side run. Change up is best pitch with an average of 20.2" of total movement and late downward run. Curveball has late 12-6 action and has potential to be a put away pitch for him with improved command. With the frame and arm strength Bowie will be one to follow througout his Senior season and Holly Springs and into the summer.
