Throughout the 2024 season Prep Baseball Scouts will be working to track and see as many games and players as possible. Each week the scouting staff will post game coverage, scout blog, player video and more.  This will be done in conjunction with Inside the Box, a daily scoreboard with select game and player highlights.

Through all the work to cover high school baseball in North Carolina, our scouting staff will be naming a player and pitcher of the week, each week of the high school regular season. Along with all the games Prep Baseball Scouts will see, cover, and examine, high school coaches will also be able to pass along information on how their players performed.  On Friday of each week, THIS FORM, will be sent to the high school coaches in North Carolina.  All players that are submitted will be considered for Player and Pitcher of the Week.

February 26 - March 2, 2024 Player of the Week

The No. 1 team in the Prep Baseball of North Carolina, Wesleyan Christian Academy, opened their season playing on the road in Alabama.  As the schedule fell, they faced off with 4 clubs from Alabama, including a couple of teams that are ranking in Prep Baseball Alabama’s Power 25 and their classification top ten’s.  The leading hitter for WCA in Alabama was Sawyer Black and Black takes home the Prep Baseball Player of the Week honors for his work.

Black, a Liberty commit, hit .545 with an on base of .706 in the 4 games.  He went 6-11 with 2 2B, 3B, HR, scoring 6 runs and batting in 3.  One of the top hitters in the state, Black is off to a hot start for a Wesleyan Christian club that has a ton of talent in their lineup and on the bump.
