Outlook:

Enid is coming off an impressive 2023 season that saw them reach the 6A State Title game. They showed the ability to beat you in multiple ways stringing together good pitching performances and having games with massive scoring outputs. The  biggest question heading into this upcoming season is trying to replace the hole lost in top arm Jacob Kennedy (Oklahoma State). They return 6 starters in 2024, gain a few players back from injury, and will rely on some big development jumps from a few of their players to try and make another run in the always tough 6A division. The Plainsmen bring a unique balance of speed and power to mix and will rely on a stout defense with playmakers all over the field. With the high-end talent and a roster that largely contributed to their impressive run in 2023, look for the Plainsmen to make some noise again in this upcoming season.

Impact Players:

Garrett Shull, OF, 2024, Oklahoma State Commit

The 2023 PBR Oklahoma POTY looks to make headlines again this season at the top of this Plainsmen lineup. The switch hitting outfielder has been skyrocketing draft boards after a strong spring and summer on the prep circuit, currently sitting 22nd in our winter edition of the 2024 MLB Draft Board. Shull shows a rare combination of size, speed, and power that shows up everywhere he goes. He is one of the most balanced switch hitters in the country showing he can handle both sides of the plate without showing weakness. Shull hit .463 with 13 HR, 16 2B and went a perfect 22 for 22 swiping bags last spring. Expect for Shull to maintain his production in 2024, which would give him an opportunity to hear his name called in the next MLB Draft this July.

Whaetly Chaloupek, 2025, RHP, Texas Tech Commit

Chaloupek rose up our rankings this past summer in large part to a massive velocity boost paired with an increase in command. The RHP worked mainly out of the bullpen for the Plainsmen in 2023 but looks to lead a group of experienced arms into the 2024 season. Chaloupek clinched an invite to this past summer’s Future Games in Georgia and did not disappoint. He ran the FB up to 90 to go with a 76-78 mph SL (2500 spin) which locked him a commitment to Texas Tech this past August. Look for Chaloupek to continue to make jumps on the mound going into this upcoming season.

McCage Hartling, 2024, C, NOC Enid Commit

The LHH backstop has a few years of varsity experience under his belt and looks to continue to produce both offensively and defensively. The NOC Enid commit hit .417 in 2023 and has shown some power potential with the ability to lift the ball to both sides of the field for extra bases. Hartling works hard for his pitchers behind the plate and uses a fluid transfer and release to throw runners out on the bases.

Seth Carlson, 2024, RHP/INF, Crowder Commit

Carlson went down with injury in the 2023 campaign, but showed flashes of power stuff as a district starter in the early parts of the year. The RHP went 3-1 with a 1.75 ERA before the injury and looks to return to form in the upcoming season. Carlson has a chance to impact the Plainsmen as a position player on the left side of the infield. He uses an athletic and physical build with present strength and could make a major impact in the lineup this season as well.

Cooper Jarnagin, 2024, UTL/RHP, Coffeyville Commit

Jarnagin has made an impact for Enid the last couple of seasons on both sides of the field. He has sat near the top of the lineup for the Plainsmen for much of the past season and looks to make an impact there this upcoming year as well. Jarnagin played a mix of outfield and infield last year and his flexibility on defense makes him an ultimate weapon on that side of the ball for Coach Gore. He also pitched well last season winning his final start of the 2023 season in a regional clinching win over Jenks.

Bennett Percival, 2024, RHP/DH, NOC Enid Commit

The RHP took over as a district starter early in the 2023 campaign and ran with it. Working in the mid 80’s with command, Percival exceeded expectations pitching to a 1.98 ERA cementing himself as a winner on the mound for the Plainsmen. Percival also hit .321 and had 28 RBI last year out of the DH spot and looks to repeat the production in 2024.

Players To Watch:

Israel Gonzales, 2024, RHP, Cowley Commit

Karter Simon, 2024, RHP/UTL, NWOSU Commit

Aidan Robinson, 2025, INF/RHP

Keon Young, 2027, OF/RHP
