Outlook:

The Sandites out of Sand Springs are coming off one of their best seasons in recent memory, and look to continue that success in the upcoming season. After falling in the regional final to Stillwater in one of the most hectic regionals to date, Sand Springs looks to finally break through and make it to the state tournament in 2024. The Sandites lost a few key contributors with the likes of Dominic Ornelas and Gabe Schlehuber, but bring back a mix of young and experienced producers that have played in big games over the last few years. Pitching will be a strong suit, with the Sandites having a plethora of guys that have pitched at the varsity level already. Offensively, much of the top of the order returns, with a few new names expected to break into the lineup towards the bottom.  Coach Brown has built a consistent winning program in Sand Springs and has been on the cusp of making it to the 6A State Tournament the last couple of seasons and will look to help guide them one step further in 2024.

Impact Players:

Easton Webb, 2026, RHP, Oklahoma State Commit.

The top arm in our 2026 rankings and OSU commit has shown flashes of dominance in the past and will look to continue to build off an impressive freshman campaign in the upcoming year. Webb pitched in some big games as a freshman for the Sandites and gained significant experience in big moments which will be huge if Sand Springs wants to push into the state tournament in 2024. The RHP works quick down the mound effortlessly, getting up to 91 mph this summer on the circuit.  He pairs the FB with a mid 70’s CB with depth with tons of swing and miss ability. Also look for Webb to get some time in the outfield for the Sandites this spring as well as he has shown some power ability in the past.

Eli Buxton, 2024, RHP, Arizona State Commit

The lengthy 6 '6 RHP locked up his commitment to the Sun Devils in the fall and hopes to continue and develop into the 2024 season. Buxton works quickly and uses his length along with strong extension to get on hitters in a hurry. Working up to 90 mph in the spring, there is still a lot in the tank to make another jump as soon throughout the spring.  Buxton has a steady attack with the fastball and has shown flashes of a plus breaking ball with swing and miss action in the past.  Buxton has always been one small jump away from being one of the more elite arms in the state and showed that type of stuff throughout the summer making him a must-watch prospect heading into the 2024 campaign.

Wyatt Rutledge, 2024, RHP/INF, NOC Enid Commit

Rutledge manned the hot corner for the Sandites in 2023, and has a chance to be a major contributor at the top of the order in this upcoming season. Rutledge has shown strong defensive actions at 3B in the past, and will likely shift over to SS this spring. We have heard reports of a jump on the mound this past off-season working in the mid to upper 80s and touching the low 90's with command.  Rutledge has already is a true wild-card factor for the Sandites headed into the 2024 season and might be the missing piece for them, especially out of the bullpen late in games.

Jackson Turney, 2026, INF, Uncommitted

The left-handed 1B produced as a freshman for the Sandites and looks to carry that over into his sophomore season. Turney has slimmed down and has put on strength in the off-season which looks to be dangerous with the smooth lefty stroke he has put on display in the past. Turney worked up to a 97.8 mph exit velocity recently at our Pre-Season All State event and has shown the ability to be a high on-base guy working tons of walks, while rarely striking out last spring. Look for Turney to continue to be a major producer for the Sandites in 2024.

Kayden Campbell, 2024, LHP/OF, Cowley Commit

The 2022 Future Game participant has been a consistent contributor for the Sandites the last few seasons and will be a 2-way contributor again in 2024. Campbell uses a gap to gap approach at the plate as a high contact and high on-base guy at the top of the Sand Springs order. Campbell will likely man CF this year and has shown the ability to be a plus defender. On the mound, Campbell will work a FB in the mid 80’s to pair with a CB with depth and a CH with arm side fade.

Jace Arnold, 2024, INF/RHP, Allen County Commit

Jace Arnold will play the role of swiss army knife for Sand Springs this spring, showing the ability to play both corner infield spots and being a major factor on the mound as well. As a major contributor in ‘23, expect the same production this season as a two-way threat. As a hitter, Arnold uses a wide base and hits to all fields for both contact and power as an extra base threat. On the mound, Arnold will work in the mid 80’s as a strike thrower mixing in a mid 70’s slider as well.

Players To Watch:

Miller Tavaglione, 2024, LHP, Allen County Commit

Alex Dudley, 2026, INF, Uncommitted

Gatlin Gunn, 2024, OF, Uncommitted

Jackson Stewart, 2024, INF/RHP, McPherson College Commit

Jaxon Wadley, 2026, C, Uncommitted
