2022 Future Games: Team Canada - Workout/Gameday Notes

The 11th annual Future Games took place on July 27-30 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2024 and 2025 participated in one of the most popular events of the year.
There were 32 teams, including Team Canada, with players representing 40 states plus Canadian prospects. Each team played three games the final three days of the event after all position players were put through a showcase workout on Wednesday.
More than 300 colleges from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event. In 2021, a record 330 college and professional coaches and scouts were in attendance.

The Arms

Matthew Brown RHP / SS / Waterdown District, ON / 2024Report: Worked 3 innings and limited the base runners. Projectable 6’5, 185lbs right-hander with a long and loose arm action. Keeps hitters off balance. |

Makaio Cisneros RHP / OF / All Saints Catholic secondary school, ON / 2024Report: FB sat upper 80s, topped 91 and limited hard contact. Settled in nicely in his second inning of work. Run on the FB with sharp breaking pitches. |

Brett Getz LHP / LHP / Vauxhall Academy of Baseball, AB / 2024Report: Long, lengthy lefty that projects well at 6’4 180lbs. Spots up quality strikes with both pitches. Lots of projection on the mound. |

Will Hynes RHP / SS / Lorne Park Secondary, ON / 2025Report: '25 RHP Will Hynes was the lone underclass arm in Georgia with Canada. Lived down in the zone and on the edges. Whippy arm action and effortless, repeatable delivery. |

Report: Lives at the knees with the ability to get s/m on pitches in the zone. Spins it with some bite. Short arm action creates deception w/ FB working up to 88.7. |

Owen Slater RHP / Brooklin High School, ON / 2024Report: Moves well down the mound, athlete. 3/4 arm slot makes it a tough AB. Quality pitches on the edges of the plate, movement on every pitch. Ground ball, soft contact arm. |

Report: Was tough to hit once he began mixing his breaking pitches. Clean, loose arm action from the right side. Lives on the edges of the plate. High spin on all of his pitches. |

Jacob Wallace RHP / 1B / Chene Bleu Pincourt, QC / 2024Report: Big bodied 6’3 230lbs RHP that works downhill. Whippy arm action with zip. CB is tough on righty’s. Two quality pitches right now, FB/CB and both are high spin. One of the top performances from a Canadian arm this week. |

Hudson White LHP / Holy Heart, NL / 2024Report: Battled through some jams and is still raw. Projectable body that has more in the tank. Lots to like with his profile on the mound, from the left-side. |
The Catchers

Keegan Drinkle C / 1B / Maple Ridge Secondary, BC / 2024Report: Drinkle is an intriguing 2024 from the West Coast who caught our eye this spring with his size and left-handed swing. 6-foot, 180-pound catcher worked to the middle of the field with consistent barrels and line drives. Projectable power in his game. |

Declan Spooner C / 1B / North Shore Academy, BC / 2024Report: Spooner is a 6-foot, 180-pound catcher out of BC who caught attention during the Future Games scout day. He showed a smooth, left-handed swing that had rhythm with solid contact to all fields. Relaxed set up that looks smooth, and gets on plane. Spooner will definitely be a follow on the team going forward. |

David Stanley OF / C / Greenwood College, ON / 2024
Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 3
Report: Stanley had one of the loudest rounds on the day. Has a strong lower half that works with the leg kick. Stanley hit multiple deep balls to LCF in BP, with one leaving the yard. He also ran a 7.00 in the sixty. He’s a tooled up, 6-foot-1, 190-pound player that looks right on the field. There’s no doubt his overall toolset is among the best on the Canadian squad. |
The Infielders

Evan Arnold SS / 2B / Blessed Trinity, ON / 2024
Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 3
Report: Arnold has a short, compact swing from the left side. Will drop the barrel and hurt pitches on the inner half. Wiry build with room to fill out, has the hands to play in the infield, feet work, glides around the diamond. |

Oliver Clements SS / 3B / Vancouver College, BC / 2024Report: Clements, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound middle infielder from BC was a clear standout during the Future Games workout. During his round of BP, he hit the ball to all fields on a line and looked athletic on the diamond. He shows smooth actions on the infield with a quick arm that works across the diamond. Clements is one of the top infielders in Canada’s 2024 class. |

Jesse Dale 3B / 1B / Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, ON / 2024
Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 1
Report: Dale takes violent swings from the right side. At 6-1, 190-pounds, he generates aggressive torque through his lower half, and combined with his bat speed and upper body strength, Dale is oneof the more damaging hitters in his class. |

Esteban Dessureault 3B / 1B / Academie Estacades, QC / 2025Report: Consistent, hard contact from the left side. One of two underclassmen on FG squad but blends right in with a big body. A top bat in Canada's 2025 class. |

Owen Fernandes 3B / RHP / Maple Ridge Secondary, BC / 2024Report: At 6-4, 175-pounds, Fernandes is one of the. more intruiguing two-way players on the West Coast. A product of the Langley Blaze, there's jump in the bat. Hands work in the infield, projects more. as a corner infeidler. Could shine a bit on the mound as well. Looks the part on the mound . FB that lives 83-86. Spins the CB well w/ more horizontal movement. Showed feel for several pitches. Interesting two-way talent. |

Brendan Lawson SS / 3B / Lawrence Park, ON / 2024Report: Lawson was one of Canada’s main attractions on the positional side and he didn’t disappoint during the showcase. 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-handed hitter who looks the part in the box and stands out with nearly everything he does on the field. Mature round of BP that worked middle to pull side with the ball jumping off his bat. Showed the actions, athleticism and arm strength today that will help him stick at shortstop. Lawson should have plenty of interest from college coaches as he departs the Future Games. |
The Outfielders

Asafa Jones OF / LHP / TNXL - Florida, ON / 2024
Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
Report: Jones’ physical frame and size draws plenty of looks alone and he continues to flash his juice from the left side. 6-foot, 200-pound outfielder from TNXL Academy and although it wasn’t the best round of BP from him, he put one ball over the fence and worked three straight line drives up the middle at 95+ mph. The left-handed swing will be the carrying tool but he’s a competent defender in the outfield with arm strength where he will likely slide over to RF from centre. Continues to stand out among his peers. |

Liam Lewis OF / SS / Bishop Macdonell, ON / 2024
Rankings StateRank: 9 / POS: 2
Report: Lewis, a 5-foot-11, 160-pound athletic outfielder ran one of the best 60’s among Canadians at 6.66. Lewis played for Bo Jackson Elite this summer and got consistent reps against high-level competition. The present tool is the speed but there’s lots to like and work with in his game as he continues to fill out and mature. |

Ryan Stalony OF / Loyola Catholic School, ON / 2024
Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 4
Report: At 6-foot, 185-pounds, Stalony brings a lot to the table. A 6.73 runner, he's got the look of an outfielder on both sides of the ball. At the plate there's present strength, can be rigid at times, but at home in the box. |

Jorge Valdes OF / Bishop Reding, ON / 2024Report: Valdes put together one of the best all-around days from the Canadian positional players and he started his day by running the top 60-time at 6.55. Small frame at 5-foot-9, 165-pounds and can get it done offensively and defensively, although his defending CF is his biggest separator. Left-handed hitter with a level swing that was working to all fields with line drives during BP. Athletic outfielder to keep tabs on in Ontario these next couple years. |
