Ontario Insider: Early Signing Period - Division 1
The NCAA early signing period starts November 9th, 2016 and will run through the 18th. With the start of the fall signing period upon us, we look to break down each individual Division I commitment, where they are headed and what tools they will bring with them.
Over the next two weeks, we will breakdown the recruiting hauls for Division II, Division III, NAIA, and JUCO programs as well as other programs that have signed players from province.
Albany
Overview: The Great Danes locked up left-hander Ben Brown of the Toronto Mets in the early signing period. The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder is the third ranked lefty in Ontario’s 2017 recruiting class. Brown stood out at the Top Prospect Games when Albany coaches were in attendance, working his fastball in the 83-85 mph range while proceeding to strike out all six hitters he faced. Three pitch repertoire for Brown with command of his off-speed pitches, he mixes in a curveball with late breaking action and 1/7 shape while the changeup is advanced and with fading action, working off his fastball with deceptiveness.
