Unsigned Senior Showcase: Quick Hits

FRANKLIN, TX- The first events of the fall is in the books and with that, several unsigned seniors around the state look to find a home at the next level. The Unsigned Senior Showcase featured a handful prospects that will college coaches will want to see come this spring. 

Off to a fast start in the 60-yard-dash was OF Nick Mueller (Clear Falls) running a 6.89. The athletic-framed outfielder carried his fast start into defensive work showing off a strong arm at 90 mph. In BP 3B Braden Benton (Lubbock Monterey) hammered balls all-around the yard, including posting the top EV of the event at 92 mph and showed a strong arm across the diamond at 84 mph. 

2020 RHP/3B Zach Ryan (Friendswood) has an athletic frame at 6-foot, 180-pounds. Hides the ball well with his glove side through delivery, has some effort in the deliver. His fastball was 88-90, spun his curveball for strikes at 72, and showed an 80 mph changeup. Arguably one of the most impressive arms from the event. 

2020 OF/RHP Trent Cook (Needville) stands 6-foot-2, 200-pounds. A primary outfielder and RHH, but the arm works on the mound. Had a quick arm out of the glove with a short arm path. The right-hander was 84-86 on Sunday, with a 71 mph curveball with depth. Also, threw 89 mph from the outfield.

2020 RHP Zachary Brewer (Tompkins) has a physical strong frame at 6-foot-2, 220-pounds. Another impressive arm from Sunday, short arm path that is repeatable, his fastball came in at 84-85, and spun his breaking ball with curveball shape at 69.

2B/SS Hunter Zaragoza (Bryan) lean-athletic frame at 5-foot-7, 140-pounds. Ran a 7.33 60 and threw 84-mph across the diamond. SS/OF Evan Cameron (College Park) showed fundamental work on the INF and power potential at the plate with an 88 exit velocity (tee). RHP/3B Nicolas Romero (Akins) showed good instincts and a strong arm registering at 85-mph across the diamond. SS/OF Brooks Howson (Benbrook) showed solid defensive actions and good footwork on the INF and an accurate arm at 82.

TEXAS NEWS
