TEXAS - Our Scouting Director, Brandon Gowins and North Texas Scouting Director, Max Semler provide scout notes and video on the JC prospects they have seen recently. This notebook includes prospects from Grayson, Paris, Northeast Texas, Tyler,  and  McLennan. 

+ Soph. INF Walker Polk - Grayson College - Uncommitted

The Soph infielder got off to a tough start to the season but has been making adjustments and showing improvement at the plate. He has the  Ability to impact the baseball is there. He has abandoned switch hitting going RH only working to simplify movements. It’s paying off, a couple extra base hits Wednesday followed up by 3 hits on Saturday.

+ Soph. SS Preston Gamster - Paris JC - TCU Commit

Athletic SS with lean build, needs to add strength, will be able to add extra weight without affecting his tools. Defensively has good feet, showing quickness. Plus range present with body control when making plays on the move. Actions are there. Offensively shows bat speed when in good position to hit. Upright stance with hands high and in front, float back into decent position to launch. Non-athletic stance, lots of movement. Inconsistent getting into good position to hit. Toe tap present, lands heavy on stride foot creating drift foward. 2 strike approach is well below avg. Widens stance, backside is rotated forward. Never gets to backside, limited hand movement. Sacrifices any ability to impact baseball with this approach. Preston has tools, is athletic to make adjustments. Having a good season at the plate, more for him to tap into with adjustments and added strength.
