2019 Top Prospect Games: Outfield Analysis

The 2019 Top Prospect Games featured some of the top 2019 graduates in the states of Illinois and Wisconsin. Historically this event has served as an unveiling of sorts for the next in line high follow prospects.

Our event analysis started yesterday with the catching prospects, usually a position of strength in the two states over the last several years. Today we take a look at the outfielders in attendance.

TOP OUTFIELD PROSPECTS

1. Danny Doligale, OF, Brother Rice, 2019
5-foot-11, 150-pound left-handed hitting outfielder with an athletic frame. Defensively has a loose arm action from an over the top slot. Throws showed carry throwing 84 mph from the outfield. Plays fast with quick, fluid footwork and athletic actions. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride and good balance. Line drive gap to gap hitter with a level swing path and a fast bat. Went 2-for-6 with a triple in game. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.34 runner down the line.

2. Kendal Ewell, OF, Marist, 2019
6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a projectable, athletic frame. Defensively has a loose arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 83 mph from the outfield. Fluid, athletic defender with rangy actions. Plays thru the ball with a clean exchange and soft hands. At the plate hits from a balanced, slightly open stance with a short leg lift stride and good balance. Pull hitter with an uphill swing path and fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 92 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.69 runner down the line.

3. Steve Jamroziak, OF, Muskego (WI), 2019
Highly projectable 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a lanky, athletic frame. Offensively hits from a tall setup with a short stride and good balance. Line drive, gap to gap hitter with level swing path and extension through contact. Fast bat with fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.44 runner down the line. Went 3-5 with an RBI in game. Defensively has a long, loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with long, fluid strides. Threw 82 mph from the outfield.

Max Bruff, OF, Indian Trail (WI), 2019
5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. At the plate hits from an open stance. Closes off on stride. Pull hitter with a short, uphill swing path and a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 95 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.38 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws flashed some carry throwing 78 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with a clean exchange.

Jack Krumbach, OF, Madison memorial (WI), 2019
Lanky, athletic frame at 6-foot, 165-pounds. Left-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top slot with accurate throws. Athletic actions with quick, fluid footwork. Threw 78 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short leg lift stride and good balance. Line drive hitter with a short, level swing path. Went 2-5 with a triple and an RBI in games. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.25 runner down the line.

Tanner Peterson, OF, Wilmot (WI), 2019
6-foot, 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. At the plate hits from a tall, balanced setup. Short, smooth load to the backside with a short leg lift stride and good balance. Line drive hitter with fluid rhythm and advanced feel for the barrel. Had a big day in games going 3-5 with a double and two RBIs. Showed strength thru contact with 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.59 runner down the line. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 78 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork and athletic actions.

Khyle Radcliffe, OF, Morgan Park, 2019
6-foot-1, 160-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has a loose arm action from an over the top arm slot. Throws showed carry throwing 84 mpg from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions and fluid footwork. Soft hands with a clean exchange. At the plate hits from a open, spread out stance.  Leg kick stride with good balance. Line drive hitter with a level swing path and fluid rhythm, 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.36 runner down the line.

Carter Robinson, RHP/OF/SS, Appleton North (WI), 2019
6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting utility player. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with some rhythm. Works in line with home plate with a closed landing. Fastball was straight at 78-79 topping out at 81 mph for strikes. Curveball has 11-5 shape with depth at 67-69 mph for strikes. Changeup flashed some fading action at 67-70 mph. at the plate hits from a slight closed stance with a short leg kick stride. Opposite field hitter with an uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.61 runner down the line. Went 3-6 with an RBI in games. Defensively in the outfield has short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork. Threw 78 mph from the outfield. Also took drills in the infield throwing 73 mph across the diamond.

Scott Savage, OF, Hartford Union (WI), 2019
Strong framed 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. At the plate hits from an upright open stance. Deep load to backside with a leg lift and arm bar. Pull, power approach with an uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 91 mph exit velocity from a tee. Went 2-5 in games with a ground rule double to the left center field gap. 4.44 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Plays thru the ball with a quick, clean exchange and slower actions. Threw 79 mph from the outfield.

Malik Staples, OF, TF South, 2019
6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. At the plate hits from a narrow slightly open stance with a short leg lift stride. Gap to gap hitter with a short swing path and fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.59 runner down the line. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Fluid footwork with average hands. Threw 80 mph from the outfield.

Michael Walsh, RHP/OF, Lyons Township, 2019
6-foot, 137-pound right-handed pitcher with a lanky frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing and athletic finish. Slow paced delivery with good balance. 4-pitch mix, with feel for four. Fastball showed slight running action at 80-82 topping out at 83 mph for strikes. Curveball has11-5 shape with sharp breaking action at 69-71 mph. Slider has more lateral action than curveball at 69-70 mph. Curveball has swing and miss ability in games Fastball arm speed on changeup at 76-77 mph. Worked out in the outfield as well. Arm plays in the outfield as well throwing 82 mph with a loose arm action. At the plate hits from a wide base with a toe tap stride and collapse on the backside. Uphill swing path. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.72 runner down the line.

Joshua Williams, OF, Morgan Park, 2019
6-foot-1, 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder with a thin, lanky frame. Defensively has a loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Athletic actions with fluid footwork and soft hands. Plays thru the ball. Threw 81 mph rom the outfield. At the plate hits from an open stance with a long stride. Slightly uphill swing path with looseness in the hands and fluid rhythm. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.50 runner down the line. Went 2-5 with two singles and an RBI in game.

Gregory Ziegler, OF/RHP, Joliet Catholic, 2019
5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Accurate throws showed carry throwing 82 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork and a clean exchange. At the plate hits from a tall, balanced setup with a long stride and good balance. Pull hitter with an uphill path and extension thru contact. 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.36 runner down the line. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action and regular effort. Drop and drive delivery with some rhythm. Fastball showed slight running action at 78-79 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape with short breaking action at 71-72 mph for strikes. Changeup sat 71-73 mph.
