On Sunday, February 4th, the PBR Illinois staff will travel to The MAX in McCook, IL., to host the Unsigned Senior Showcase. This event is open to all uncommitted class of 2024 players and provides our staff with an opportunity to check in on some of the remaining uncommitted players in the area.

Event History

This event has had it's share of success stories, even as recently as last year with OF/RHP Aidan Capone (Auburn, 2023; SWIC JC) & OF/RHP Jason Sullivan (Sandburg, 2023; Triton JC). Capone had a solid 'pen where he worked his fastball in the 86-88 mph range with late run through the zone paired with a 75-78 mph changeup that averaged 17" of horizontal movement. He was impressive in other areas as well; putting up one of the top exit velocities at the event (T97 mph), and also topping at 92 mph from the outfield during the workout. Following this performance, Capone found himself in our final rankings at No. 236 after being unranked, and eventually signed with Southwestern Illinois College, one of the top junior colleges in the state. Sullivan was equally impressive at the event where he ran his fastball up to 86.8 mph with late life through the zone and occasional cutting action, while throwing two different breaking balls for strikes, as well as a changeup that had late run/depth in the zone. At the plate, Sullivan displayed quick hands and posted a max exit velocity of 96 mph. Similar to Capone, after the event Sullivan was ranked in our final rollout reaching No. 304, before signing with Triton JC.

Roster Preview

The roster for this event is already shaping up nicely with nearly 20 players set to attend, and we wanted to take some time to highlight a handful of the prospects that will be joining us on Sunday.

One of the top remaining uncommitted arms in the class will be in attendance on Sunday in RHP Nick Jukovich (2024, Glenbrook North). Currently ranked No. 187 in the state, Jukovich was recently featured in our Winter Watchlist, highlighting some of the state's best players that will attend one of our events over the course of the winter. Standing in at 6-foot-3, 210-pounds, he has some present muscle on his frame with potentially more room to fill out. The tall righty can work his fastball up to 87 mph with some carry and arm-side run to it, while primarily sitting in the 83-86 range. Jukovich complements his fastball with a sharp 11/5 curveball that gets spin rates routinely over 2,300 rpm, while rounding out his mix with a fading-changeup that showed over 16" of run at the Illinois State Games this past August.

Another arm to monitor on Sunday will be RHP Clayton Cawley (2024, Metamora). Listed at a tall and lanky 6-foot-2, 170-pounds, Cawley has room to fill out his frame entering his senior season. A loose and fluid mover downhill, we last saw him in the low-80's with his fastball (T83 mph), but we could see a bigger jump in his velo come Sunday and in the future with added development. Cawley pairs his fastball with a knuckle-curve that has some 11/5 action with bite to make for his out-pitch, and he rounds out his repertoire with a changeup that sits in the mid-70s, acting as a quality third offering to change the pace.

A speedy player to keep an eye on will be OF William Klumpp (2024, Sycamore). At an athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, Klumpp has shown to be a sound runner for us in the past posting a 6.65 in the 60 last February. A right-handed hitter, he has a long, uphill bat path that creates leverage and sneaky pop off the bat with a max exit velocity of 92 mph and some bat speed to pair (avg. 71 mph).
