Daily Roundup: April 19 Games

The summer like weather that was the backdrop for high school baseball action statewide on Thursday gave way to high winds, lots of rain and plummeting temperatures on Friday. Much of the schedule was affected by rain. Following is a look at the games played by teams in the current Top 25.

#5 Pine-Richland @ North Allegheny (Postponed)

Poduslenko#7 Malvern Prep 11, Haverford School 2

  • Sophomore RHP Chris Butera picked up the win on the mound an SS Joe Poduslenko, a Seton Hall recruit, went 3-for-4 with four runs scored, three RBI and a home run for Malvern Prep.

#8 Parkland @ Wilson (Postponed)

Juniata @ #11 West Perry (Postponed)

Neshaminy 8,  #13 Pennsbury 0

  • OF/LHP Cole Creighton gave up just three hits in leading Neshaminy to the win.

#17 Central Bucks East 10, Central Bucks South 3

  • RHP Blair Killough (2013) tossed a complete game yielding seven hits and three runs. OF Vince Careghini (2013) led a 16 hit CB East attack going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

#21 Pleasant Valley @ Stroudsburg (Postponed)

Upper Perkiomen 3, #22 Boyertown 2

  • Upper Perkiomen scored two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to win a pitcher's duel 3-2. Junior Ian Benz was the only player with multiple hits for either team going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

#23 Red Land @ Mifflin County (Postponed)

#24 Salisbury Township 7, Catasauqua 2

  • Senior OF Mason Kresley who is hitting .452 on the season led a 13 hit attack with a double and two RBI as Salisbury moved to 12-0 on the season.

#25 Governor Mifflin 5, Twin Valley 2

  • Sophomore RHP John Catchmark pitched a complete-game, striking out eight to lead the Mustangs (11-3). OF Tommy DePaul led Gov. Mifflin's offense going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Sean Coldren went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Joe ThompsonDowningtown West 1, Avon Grove 0 (10 Innings)

  • LHP Joe Thompson went 7.2 innings of no-hit baseball before having to exit following the 8th inning due to reaching his innings allowed limit for the week in a scoreless tie. Thompson used just 94 pitches in his eight innings of one-hit baseball. Downingtown West eventually rallied for a run in the 10th inning for the win.
