By Jacob Gill
Philadelphia Region Director of Scouting

Over the past month, we have updated our class of 2015 and class of 2016 player rankings. Today we unveil the updated top 60 in the class of 2017.  As with all classes, but especially a group in which most of the players throughout the state have yet to play a varsity game, we will continue to update and add to the list as this class plays its forthcoming three years of high school baseball.  Here is a sneak preview of the top ten:

1. Joe Lancellotti, OF/RHP, Archbishop Wood - Polished swing with juice in bat. Upper-80s on mound.
2. Shane Muntz, C/RHP, Malvern Prep - Man-child with raw power. Pops 2.03-2.08. Upper-80s on mound.
3. Trent Vietmeier, RHP, Montour - Mid- to upper-80s from 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame.
4. Cole Stetzar, RHP, West Scranton - Mid- to upper-80s with whippy, projectable arm action.
5. Matt Gorman, SS/RHP, Penn Charter - Good actions, solid swing. Polished mid-80s w/ 3-pitch mix.
6. Curtis Robison, LHP/OF, Northern York - Easy low- to mid-80s w/ feel for spin & solid change-up.
7. Brandon Knarr, LHP, Eastern York - Polished low- to-mid-80s w/ 3-pitch mix and command of zone.
8. Jordan Fiedor, RHP/OF, Hempfield Area - Mid-80s on mound. Solid runner w/ good arm and raw pop.
9. Nick Stoner, SS/RHP, Elizabethtown - Good wheels & actions. Mid-80s w/ loose arm action.

Nick StonerThis group is very top-heavy in pitching, as even those listed as primary position players could find themselves toeing the rubber in college, depending on how their development progresses. Lancellotti and Muntz have already given verbal commitments to North Carolina and Virginia Tech, respectively. The top ten is largely unchanged from our previous update, with the exception of Stoner, who was a standout performer at November's Elite Prospect Showcase.
