LATHROP, CA. - The Northern CA Open Scout Day had nearly 40 players take part in the showcase where players were put through a workout that included the 60-yard sprint, round of batting practice, defensive workouts at respective positions, and concluded with bullpen sessions where the pitchers' stats were compiled. CATCHERS

Cal Elvis, Vacaville (CA), 2024
Positional Profile: C/SS
Body: 5-11, 160-pounds. Long and lean muscles with length in limbs. Athletic and strength currently in upper half. More size/muscle coming soon
Hit: SH. RH: Narrow knees, high hands/back elbow, Kick and Hover with front leg. Stays in back hip very well before rotation.
LH: Wider base, lean over back hip, High Hands/Back elbow. More tuck on front leg. Fluid bat path, big upwards two-hand finish. Loose and easy with quick turns. Liners to CF/LF during BP.
LH: More hand drive/rotation on this side and more of a pull focus. Swing projects ability to improve on both sides.
Power: 91 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 73 mph. INF - 74 mph. Compact, loads the shoulder well. Consistently on the bag; times where it can be on higher arc.
Defense: 2.18-2.26 pop times. Good athleticism in position and ability to bounce out of crouch. Good direction and ability to hold the zone with glove hand.
Run: 7.46 runner in the 60.

Manuel Dorantes, Salinas (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 6-0, 210-pounds. Large shoulders with current strength there, but plenty of time to tighten the frame. Moves well for size.
Hit: RHH. Squatted stance, high hands/high back elbow. Simple forward move with lots of hand rhythm. Great direction and ability to drive backside through contact. Deep carry and easy carry deep into gaps. Power will be a major asset.  Hands stay above the baseball well with barrel following and creating easy loft; explosive off the bat.
Power: 95 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 72 mph. INF - 74 mph. Fluid and compact. Easy actions. Able to get rid of it when he needs to. Balls generally on the bag from both C/3B position.
Defense: 2.19-2.29 pop times.
C: Good footwork and direction towards Second. Pulls glove to throwing hand allowing efficient transfers. Soft body for blocks and able to get out of crouch well. Multiple stances and able to stick pitches.
3B: Low hips, quick feet; Agile for size and shows ability to adjust hips to bounces.
Run: 7.95 runner in the 60.

Fernando Oseguera, Los Altos (CA), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/C
Body: 5-8, 160-pounds. Athletic, proportional compact frame with good strength throughout
Hit: RHH. Slightly opened, relaxed on back shoulder with flared elbows. Hands are flowy staying high on forward move; keeps backside connected to the ground well through swing. Balanced and good drive from backside. Stays tight with body turns, allows barrel to get through the zone and make consistent hard contact. Some feel for the barrel and when he was at his best ball jumped off the bat. Worked all parts of the OF with liners and occasional carry. Projectable swing.
Power: 86 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. INF - 74 mph. C - 70 mph.
INF: Full swing, high over the top release. Times where throws had good trajectory and firmness.
C: Quicker circle and elbow pulls out from the glove. Throws around bag and give INF a chance for plays
Defense: INF: Good footwork early, plays toe to heel well and moved fluidly through and around the baseball. Can keep working to play below the ball more consistently. Glove was consistent and reacted well.
C: 2.36-2.49 pop times. Blocked very well with good body positions. Good direction with lower half, able to be firm up front side and more strength coming in arm. Worked well on one-knee, glove working to beat pitches to their location.
Run: 7.76 runner in the 60.

Xavier Rios, Moreau Catholic (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 6-1, 188-pounds. Long limbed, wider shoulders and tight muscular build.
Hit: RHH. Tall, slight bend of knees, hands at back shoulder relaxed. Front side comes tight with slight hand back load; backside drive having back hip kick-out to create direction. Hands short to ball and across body on finish. Quick hands and able to turn barrel to have upward finish through the zone. Balls carried to both gaps with easy actions. Projectable swing.
Power: 87 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 69 mph. Loose arm, efficient usage and high release; times where ball would run based on front shoulder actions. Projectable.
Defense: 2.22-2.23 pop times. Fluid hips on pops with rhythmic footwork; when front hip stayed on base, better throws and direction. Fluid exchanges allowed for good transition. Received from multiple stances and very easy glove actions early; stuck multiple pitches.
Run: 7.76 runner in the 60.

Gavin Mora, Lodi (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: C/2B
Body: 5-10, 153-pounds. Sloped shoulders, length in limbs and high waist
Hit: RHH. High hands, bat relaxed on back shoulder, leans into back hip early on with toe tap load. Balanced through contact with direct hands to the baseball. Back hand drives swing staying tight through zone with lift upon finish; worked inside ball fairly well.
Power: 82 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 68 mph. Loose arm, whippy out front from wider slot for catcher. Quick release.
Defense: 2.28-2.39 pop times. Wide feet, quick out of crouch and able to efficiently transfer to throwing arm.
Run: 7.49 runner in the 60.

Ethan Johnson, Leland (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 6-0, 193-pounds. Long torso, square shoulders, current strength there and projection at full maturity
Hit: LHH. Wide base, hands very tight on back shoulder. Weight on backside, with early foot reach; hands stay low dropping off back shoulder. Upwards path. Length in the swing, stays inside the ball well. When he was on time and stayed tight, the ball had some jump off the bat.
Power: 83 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 65 mph. INF - 68 mph. Compact out of glove, whip hand on throws creates some run.
Defense: 2.43-2.56 pop times.
C: Bit higher in the hips when working pop times. Good transfers and quick footwork. Ball regularly put in a spot for infielders to make plays.
3B: Wider base, fields a bit deeper on grounders at 3B. Keeps feet underneath him well.
Run: 8.25 runner in the 60.

Ricky Maya, Christian Brothers (CA), 2024
Positional Profile: C
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Long proportional frame with rangy limbs
Hit: RHH. Narrow, slight bend relaxed elbows with hands at back shoulder. Holds posture, slight sink of back hip as hands work back. Can get into the front side, times where he spins. Good body positions for swing. Fluid barrel turn allowing him to get on plane deep and finish upwards through the zone. Balls jumped as he worked gap-to-gap with carry. Projectable swing.
Power: 83 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. C - 65 mph. Stays tight in pocked with arm swing; wristy type of throws had balls landing in front of the bag
Defense: 2.25-2.27 pop times. Bigger hop out of crouch, good direction. Blocking was solid with rolled shoulders to keep from bouncing. Receiving was good using multiple stances and ability to keep ball on plate.
Run: 7.97 runner in the 60.

Vincent Robinson, Bullard (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: 2B/C
Body: 5-5, 127-pounds. Compact frame, light muscle and high waist. Young frame.
Hit: LHH. Balanced start with lower hands, relaxed. Shifts into the backside, hands staying at the back shoulder, drives the backside well and able to firm up backside.  Fluid hands drive barrel upward through the zone; compact swing and barrel stays through the zone well. Worked middle of the field; projectable swing.
Power: 79 max exit velocity.
Arm: RH. INF - 64 mph. C - 63 mph.
INF: Fluid swing easy actions. Can keep working on staying on top of the ball when releasing. Strength can make jumps.
C: Quick release and ability to keep ball on the bag; more strength will help profile.
Defense: INF: Active feet with fluid actions, Glove consistently out in front and funnels. Projectable actions for growth.
C: 2.34-2.40 pop times. Best throws came with good direction of lower half; gets into the front leg well. Efficient transfer and willing to work laterally for blocks.
Run: 8.31 runner in the 60.
