Recruiting Roundup: Week of 11/26
December 1, 2023
Today, we’ll address all the Illinois prospects who made the decision to announce their commitment throughout this past week. We wrapped up our final showcase of 2023 in October, so as we head into the fall and winter offseason, now’s the time when recruiting season picks up. This past week was a busy one for commitments, so let’s begin.

Calvey consistently was on the barrel (75%) and produced a max batted distance of 332 ft. He moved well on defense in both the infield and outfield. MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE COMMIT
From 2/22/23: “One of the best defensive rounds on the day came from INF Andrew Crenshaw (Lindblom, 2024). On the infield, Crenshaw showcased athletic footwork with a quick first step, playing through the ball with soft hands and a clean transfer. He ranges easily to both sides of his glove and has above-average speed (6.99 60-yard dash). His arm plays better than the radar gun reads (T75 mph), coming out of the hand with backspin and accuracy to his target. At the plate, the right-handed hitter utilizes a line-drive approach that works to the whole field.” |

Alec Marchetto RHP / 3B / Edwardsville, IL / 2024
Rankings StateRank: 73 / POS: 23
KASKASKIA JC COMMIT
From 6/10/23: “6-foot-2, 210 pound frame with strength, particularly in the lower half. High-intensity athlete on the mound, aggressive approach with feel for his two-pitch mix in this look. Delivery starts with a closed front leg lift that feeds into a short arm stroke, easy weight transfer, intentful down the mound and finishes out front through release. Fast arm with some whip, works out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball played with natural arm-side action, attacked hitters consistently, touching 89 mph in his first inning of work while pitching in the mid-to-upper-80s. Flashed depth to his curveball off an 11/5 plane, used it sparingly. Closed out the state championship game for Edwardsville, punching out five over three scoreless innings out of the ‘pen, walking none and allowing only a hit.” |

Owen Myket C / OF / Metea Valley, IL / 2024WHEATON COLLEGE COMMIT From 2/4/23: “Catcher Owen Myket (Metea Valley, 2024) was one of the more intriguing left-handed bats in attendance. Built at a strong, sturdy, 6-foot, 195-pounds, Myket hits from a wide, crouched setup and was on the barrel with authority throughout much of his round. Myket averaged 87.9 mph off the bat, T91.5 with his furthest batted ball traveling 334 feet. Myket stays short to the ball with strong hands while working up the middle of the diamond with 73.3 mph average bat speed.” |

Matthew Wnukowski LHP / OF / Tinley Park, IL / 2024Rankings StateRank: 153 / POS: 14
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE COMMIT From 8/8/23: "...stands at an athletic 6-foot-3, 215-pound build with strength in his lower half. On the mound Wnukowski impressed, tossing two clean innings where he struck out two batters and earned seven whiffs, mostly on his fastball. His fastball worked at 82-84 T85 mph with an average of 19.1 inches of ride that earned swings and misses in the zone. His two offspeed pitches, a upper-60s curveball and a mid-70s slider are both developing but flashed tight breaking movement with some feel for the zone." |
