On Monday, February 19th the Prep Baseball Ontario staff hosted the annual Greater Toronto Preseason ID at the Vaughan Sportsplex in Vaughan, Ontario and the event gives players a chance to showcase their offseason developments prior to their spring trips down South. The event also serves as an identifier and qualifier for our Select Series Events such as Future Games (2026), Jr. Future Games (2028/2029), Senior Future Games (2025), West Coast Games (2025/2026) Best of the West (18U & 15U), NY State Games (2025-2027) and NorthEast Senior Games (2025).

This event featured over 110 prospects from the across the province in the 2024 - 2028 classes and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players, as well as collect updated metrics via our tech partners TrackMan and Swift Performance.

Earlier this week, we broke down the top measurable data performers from the event with our Statistical Analysis, Pitching Data Dive and Quick Hits. Now, we continue to break down top players at the event within this second Quick Hits article as we bring scouting notes and video on seven more players.

Ramsey Chung SS / RHP / Our Lady of Mount Carmel, ON / 2026

Very impressive showing from 2026/27 two-way Ramsey Chung on Monday who is quickly establishing himself as one of the stronger players in Ontario’s 2026 class. On the hill, his showing was accentuated by a mid-80s (T86) fastball with some ride through the zone (18.6in. of average IVB). The slider plays as a secondary offering, living 72-74mph with a solid movement profile and is a pitch that he can locate. At just 5-foot-9, 175-pounds, Chung does an exceptional job of creating separation within a violent, yet athletic delivery. Offensively, it’s a concise load with an efficient bat path and strong front side that propelled Ramsey to a consistent round of BP, in which the exit velocity averaged 85.6mph and reached a high of 92.8mph. A highly talented two-way player to circle as he continues to refine his craft.

Logan Melo 3B / 1B / John Paul II, ON / 2025

Fresh off of one of the top Holiday Hitters performances in the country, Melo continues to impress ahead of what will be a crucial summer in respect to college recruiting. The hulking 6-foot-3, 230-pound corner infielder looks to do damage every time he steps into the box, and this week was no different as he dominated our Trackman leaderboard across several categories. His max EV (98.4mph), average EV (91.1mph) and Hard Hit % (66%) were all tops on the day, and the max distance wasn’t far behind at 361ft. There’s a minor hitch in the swing, but Melo’s hands and lower-half compensate with sheer strength and twitch. Also gave us a two-way look, living in the low 80s (T83) with the fastball and flashing a breaking ball he was able to land for strikes.

Owen Mckinstry RHP / 1B / Saugeen District Senior School, ON / 2027

At just 14-years-old, Mckinstry’s a raw product with a strong base to dream on. The GLC product already stands at 6-foot-2, 190-pound and profiles as a good follow on both sides of the ball. Although a bit pushy at times in his delivery, lived 77-78mph with the fastball and located the CB/CH effectively during a quality bullpen. Posted strong Trackman hitting numbers for his class, highlighted by a maximum exit velocity of 91.1mph and a maximum distance of 327ft. Tall setup at the dish with a long forward move to the baseball, bat stays on plane and in the hitting zone for a long time. As Mckinstry continues to grow into his young body, the prospect of added coordination to a frame that’s already built powerfully makes for a very interesting player to watch.

Jehmar Harrison OF / SS / Silverthorn, ON / 2027

2027 OF/C Jehmar Harrison was a standout on both sides of the ball and continues to solidify himself as one of the more advanced players in his class. The athletic 5-foot-10, 158-pound right-handed hitter utilizes a narrow set-up and a quick toe-tap to help his timing. Harrison generated a peak exit velocity of 95.1mph (87.6mph average), which is the highest we’ve seen from him at any of our events. He also showed the ability to consistently lift the ball, achieving a sweet spot % of 71.4%. On the defensive side of the ball, we got our first look at Jehmar behind the dish where he’s just beginning to learn the position. The young OF/C is a 2027 bat to keep tabs on as he continues to mature and improve his game.

Alexander Kuypers 3B / RHP / I.E. Weldon, ON / 2026

2026 RHP/INF Alex Kuypers had one of the better bullpens on the day at Monday’s event in Vaughan. The 6-foot, 180-pound two-way showed significant improvements on the mound, with the fastball now sitting 84-86mph T87 (previously T83) with more left in the tank as he continues to grow. His SL/CB offspeed combo compliments the fastball well and looks to be a pitch that will play in-game. With the bat, Kuypers showed the ability to consistently lift the ball, acquiring an 83% fly ball rate to go along with a max exit velocity of 86.9mph. The young two-way Peterborough Tiger is a 2026 player East of Toronto our staff is eager to see in-game.

Gus Reid SS / RHP / Adam Scott, ON / 2026

2026 SS/RHP Gus Reid jumped onto the scene during the 2023 Ray Carter Cup and he is another strong two-way player out of the Peterborough Tigers organization who showed well on Monday. On the bump, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed pitcher works with quick tempo and aggression from a ¾ slot with feel for his FB/CB/CH mix. The fastball sat 82-85mph, paired with a curveball at 68-69mph. On the offensive side of the ball, Reid produced a max exit velocity of 83.5mph and a max distance of 308 feet.
