2023 Sophomore State Games: Preview

The 2023 Sophomore State Games kick off this weekend in Daytona. The event will be held at the Jackie Robinson Ballpark, home of the Single A Daytona Tortugas. The event will feature 2026 grads from across the state representing their region during showcase and gameplay. The event will be featured on the Prep Baseball Report website as well as on social media. Today, we will highlight the players in attendance in this preview.

Preview

East

The East region features 2026s from the Orlando area and the east coast of the state. The East pitchers will be Gunner Dixon, Braden Myers, Gunner Rawlins, and Jeremy Wright. Behind the plate is Angel Martinez, Edward Risano, and Jomar Torres.

The East infield features Tyler Arafet, Lorenzo Farrell, and Chris Pedrinan at first base. Up the middle is Tyler Lomas (UCF), Colt Miller, Jaiden Palmer, Erick Robles, and Colby Smith. Rounding out the East are outfielders Jaxon Pomar, Cadyn Rawley, JJ Santiago, and Sullivan Smith.

North

The North region features 2026s from the Gainesville, Jacksonville, and Panhandle areas. Pitching for the North will be Tommy Hayes and multiple two-ways. Catching for the North will be Tanner Hall, Luke Labbe, and Jayden Wise.

In the infield, the North features Lucas Argudin, Cody Boshell (Tennessee), and Reilley Oglageo at first base and Robby Hoisington and Christopher Reali at third. The middle infield will be Dominic Bretti, Miguel Delgado, Nate Downey, and Jordan Martinez. The outfield for the North will be Santiago Ganley, Mason Jones (VA Tech), Makana Moorefield, and Cohen Rush.

South

The South region features players from the Miami area as well as Fort Lauderdale, Naples, and Palm Beach. The South pitchers will be Victor Escobar, Tyler Johnson, Hunter Myrick, Brennan Sink, and Zack Weiselberg. Behind the plate will be Thomas Ciaccio, Cooper Obst, and Luke Shelhammer.

The infield features Alex Edisis, Andrew Maldonado, and Matthew Toback at first base and Stephen Gladding and Jayden Nunez at third base. The middle infield will be Julian Diaz, Jaden Doverspike, Abraham Halaoui, Michael Miraglia, Cade Raley, and Santiago Rincon. Rounding out the South are outfielders Peter Lopez, Jake Rizzo, Angel Rodriguez, and Nicolas Sabatino.

West

The West region is made up of 2026s from the West coast of Florida in Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota, and more. Pitching for the West is Matt Altman, Chase Andress, George Cook, and Xander Perrin. Catching for the West are Jonathan Hernandez-Carr, Charles Messina, Alex Quintero, and Christian Villanueva

The West infield has Andrew Thalleen at first and Brett Garcy at third. Up the middle is Ethan DeJesus, Parker Loew (LSU), Dylan Messina, Kasey Mink, and Lucas Zarlenga. Rounding out the West roster in the outfield is Brock Byrne, Ricky Stegbauer, and Briggs Tibbals.
