Game Notes: Coronado at (#8) Foothill

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

The #8 ranked Falcons took an early, 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and never looked back behind a standout effort from Nevada's top Uncommitted arm in Bryce McKnight. Foothill looks like they are in full stride heading into the home stretch of the season with the playoff picture starting to take shape. The Cougars have the talent to put together a serious playoff run and are a group you can never discount heading into the second half of the season.

+ Bryce McKnight, 2024 RHP - The right-hander was in control from the first pitch of the  game, commanding both his fastball and curveball effectively in any count to keep the Coronado hitters off balance. An early candidate for the Prep Baseball Nevada Player of the Week, McKnight stood tall, going 7.0 IP (Complete Game) while's striking out 6, allowing 0 runs and only 4 hits. McKnight was a standout at the 2023 West Coast Games this past Summer and has ascended to quickly becoming one of the, if not the, top Uncommitted arm in Nevada with a commitment expected to come in the very near future.

+ Koa Sibal, 2025 IF - The junior has continue to produce quality at-bats each time we have been out to watch the Falcons. He continued to do so in yesterday's matchup with his advanced barrel awareness on full display as he turned around an elevated fastball to get the hitting started, eventually being brought in on a single later in the inning to open up the scoring. Sibal has proved to be a game type that we expect to be able to continue producing gritty at-bats at the next level and we expect to be on a number of radars heading into the Summer.

+ Evan Festa, 2024 OF/LHP (CSN Commit) - The future Coyote continued his massive Spring at the plate, adding a pair of hits to his season total and half of the hits registered by the Cougars, now hitting .467. On the mound, he pounded the zone through his three innings of work, allowing only one earned run with his fastball, curveball, changeup mix. The 2023 West Coast Games standout has proven himself as one of the top overall bats in Nevada's 2024 Class and we expect him to be a potential early impact player for the College of Southern Nevada next Spring.
