Game Notes: Green Valley vs. Spring Valley

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

GN 4-17

+ Jacob Ferry, 2025 IF - The Green Valley shortstop had himself a day at the plate, helping guide the Gators to a key 8-4 League win over Spring Valley, going a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate. Ferry has caught his stride in the second half of the season, going 3 for 4 in his last game vs. Arbor View and will be a big piece in the heart of the GV lineup as the home stretch of the 2024 Season upon us and the playoff picture starting to take shape.

+ TJ Shaw, 2024 IF - The Uncommitted senior continues to lead the way at the plate for the Gators, hitting .430 on the year and adding two more hits yesterday with one being a  clutch solo homerun in the top of the 7th to put Green Valley up 5-4, then adding three more to secure an 8-4 win. Shaw has been a staple in the Green Valley lineup over the past three years with advanced feel for the third base position to go with his ability at the plate. Shaw will be a great addition to any roster at the next level with his present tools projected to translate well.

________________________________________________________

+ Jack Rieckmann, 2025 1B - The junior has impressed each time out to see the Grizzlies this season and cotinued to do so yesterday as the three hitter launched a no doubt homerun to rightfield to tie it up at 4 all in bottom of the 3rd. The left-handed bat with present pull side power paired with his athleticism around the bag at firstbase makes Rieckmann an player to know in Nevada's 2025 Class.

________________________________________________________

+ Ben Byington, 2024 OF - Byington has been another staple in the Gator lineup over the past few season with his ability to hold down any outfield spot. The senior is hitting .368 on the year with 8 doubles, adding another one in yesterday's contest for Green Valley. This is another GV Senior that has the tools to play at the next level with the numbers to prove it.

________________________________________________________

+ Matthew Rogers, 2024 OF - The Spring Valley senior had himself a day at the plate for the Grizzlies, adding two hits including a two-run homerun in the bottom of the first to answer back and cut into an early Green Valley lead, bringing his team within one. Rogers is a key bat in the heart of the SV order with the playoff picture starting to take shape, if he goes then this will be a team to watch out for in the home stretch of the season.
