OUTLOOK
In 2019, Lakeland Christian won their first state championship in 24 years. They return several starters from last season and will ask upon some underclassmen to make key contributions in 2020. On offense, the Vikings lose OF Jovanni Canegitta (Pensacola State) who batted .398 with 22 RBI in 2019. Returning on offense are Florida commits Jake Fox and Ty Evans. Fox had a monster season in 2019 where he batted .550 with 19 RBI and also added 15 stolen bases. Evans batted .345 with 25 RBI in 2019. He will be asked to be a key contributor on the mound as well in 2020. The Vikings return three more juniors in Ian Anderson, Ryan Jenkins, and Reese Collins, who all batted over .325 in 2019. Sophomore Brody Donay will be a key part of the Vikings success in 2020 as well. On the mound, Lakeland Christian loses their top three innings eaters in 2019. They return senior RHP Tyler Donay, who will take over as their ace in 2020. With several key members of the 2019 team back, the Vikings should be in prime position to defend their state title in 2020.
