His final offering was a heavy fading changeup at 79-80 mph, playing clean out of the hand with efficient spin.

+ RHP Pablo Herrera (Plainfield South) displayed pitchability in his ‘pen on Saturday. Herrera’s three-pitch mix was headlined by an 87-88 mph fastball that played with arm-side run (avg. 14.8” HM) and some sink. His slider had more lateral action to it, showing a 10/4 shape with feel for the zone. Herrera’s curveball played similarly to the slider, though with slightly better spin (avg. 2518; T2581 rpm) at 74-76 mph.

+ RHP Will Carter (Whitney Young) and RHP Calen Scheider (McHenry) are two more arms that deserve a mention after strong showings on the bump; with Carter running his fastball up to 92 mph and Scheider displaying athletic movement patterns with a fastball up to 90 mph.
