Ian Smith
Assistant Scouting Director

The 2024 Georgia high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in mid-May inside one of Coolray Field, AdventHealth Stadium, or JI Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Jimmy Keane and the defending 2A state champions return a very strong roster in 2024 that’s headlined by a pair of Georgia commits who lead both the lineup and rotation. Senior centerfielder Michael Mullinax is dynamic on the diamond with plus-plus speed and real power at the plate, the future bulldog could have draft aspirations as well as one of the best outfielders in the country. Young Harris commit senior OF/RHP Brock Parker returns alongside Mullinax in right and freshman OF J.D Aufderheide, who’s a top 10 player in the class of 2027 looks to hold down the final outfield spot in left with substantial upside. Big-league bloodlines in the middle-infield with senior SS Jackson Uggla and his superb bat-to-ball skills paired with fellow senior Ryan Kelley at the keystone giving the Eagles great experience and leadership in the dirt. A pair of juniors in 3B Spears Martin and 1B/DH Rilee Hutchinson will provide the thump in the lineup at the corner infield spots, with both displaying above-average raw pop and only getting more physical. Asher Sabom, who is the other mentioned Georgia commit, will be the ace of an unproven, but high-upside staff that includes Brock Parker and junior RHP Ross Rea. Sabom was tremendous throughout the fall and could be one of the better pitchers in the state this spring. The bullpen will be a strength for North Cobb Christian, led by senior and Cedarville College commit Tobias Rupp and junior Caden Dollar who can be a lockdown tandem at the backend. This ballclub is has balanced on both sides and playoff experience, and those are two huge strengths for a team looking to repeat as state champions.
