The 2024 Georgia high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in mid-May inside one of Coolray Field, AdventHealth Stadium, or JI Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Shane Amos and Walton bring one of the best batteries in the state with Clemson commit RHP Dane Moehler and Tennessee commit C Levi Clark to lead the squad, but that just scratches the surface of the talent that the Raiders bring into 2024. Let’s start with the pitching talent. Next to Moehler in the starting rotation is Wofford commit LHP/OF Miller Alston and Preseason All-State standout sophomore RHP Westin Chen, who’s made a strong case for the SP3 role to open the year. Multi-sport athlete junior RHP Kaeden Gilstrap will bring added talent and depth to the rotation after basketball season ends as well. Seniors Eli Hardage and Adam Wideman highlight strong depth in the bullpen that will see help from multiple areas this spring. Outside of Clark offensively, Walton will be counting on their pair of talented junior middle-infielders in Mercer commit 2B Parker Dastou and Clemson commit SS Jackson Taylor to make substantial contributions after big off-seasons physically. All-Region bat and North Georgia commit C/DH Davis Wright returns atop the lineup looking for a massive senior season and provides great stability. Alston will show his strong two-way profile in RF while two very talented sophomores will find their ways into everyday roles in the grass. Jude Cascone brings massive juice from the gridiron into left while Walker Killimett shows plus speed and bat-to-ball skills as well as plenty of range in center. Walton is a team that knows how to win, and will have strong aspirations of improving on an elite eight run from just a year ago.
