The 2024 Georgia high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in mid-May inside one of Coolray Field, AdventHealth Stadium, or JI Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

One of the perennial powerhouses in the state, Coach Chan Brown and the Panthers just flat-out know how to win. A year removed from 32 wins and a state championship berth, Parkview returns a deep, talented roster this spring even after losing big production due to graduation. Leading the Panthers will be senior 3B and Georgia commit Cade Brown, who returns following a robust .486, 14 HR junior campaign which was among the best in the state. Newcomer senior SS and VCU commit Adrian Jimenez brings above-average tools on both sides of the ball and slots in nicely to fill the hole left by 2023 1st Round Pick Colin Houck. Another strong all-around profile returns behind the plate in Kennesaw State commit senior Ethan Finch, who will be looking to improve on a strong junior season and will be a leader for the Panthers this spring. The outfield holds a ton of intrigue heading into 2024 with varying levels of experience but immense upside throughout. Senior Makhi Buckley returns to reprise his starting role in LF, while a pair of top outfielders in their respective classes fill out the rest of the grass in sophomore CF Malachi Washington and junior RF Eli Pitts, who both look to build off good experience in 2023. A battle-tested pitching staff returns with a combined 30 appearances last spring among the trio of senior Ford Thompson, junior Porter Berryman, and senior Thorpe Musci. That’s invaluable experience in a tough region that few teams can offer. Bullpen will be bolstered by two committed seniors in Jon Holcomb (Southern Union) and Kason Gleaton (Wallace-Dothan) as well as solid contribution from junior JT Whritenour. The Panthers will have to grow quickly in certain areas this spring, this amount of talent throughout this roster is significant and it’s easy to see Parkview making yet another run to the state championship.
