The 2024 Georgia high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in mid-May inside one of Coolray Field, AdventHealth Stadium, or JI Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Greg Robinson and Etowah put together a deep run into the postseason that finished in the state semifinals in 2023, and have the talent to reach that ceiling or more this spring. It starts with the three-headed monster that is the starting rotation led by seniors RHP Dimitri Angelakos (Georgia Tech) and LHP Caleb Hughes (Southern Miss) with top sophomore RHP Matthew Sharman (Georgia) rounding it out and possibly holding the highest ceiling of the three. The return of junior LHP Jackson Rose from injury will be a massive boost for this pitching staff and Hillsborough CC commit LHP Oliver Bandy is a valuable asset, filling multiple roles for the Eagles. Angelakos and Sharman will be major factors in the lineup as well slotting in as both starting shortstop and first-baseman respectively. Top 10 in the Class of 2026 3B/OF Deion Cole has some of the best bat speed and raw pop in the class and will be looked upon for big production out of the hot corner. The outfield deploys impressive athletes with above-average gloves and potentially even better bat-to-ball skills. Seniors Bryce Adams and Flo-Dar commit Jake Zehner will be vital at the top-of-the-lineup and sophomore Miami commit Trevor Condon continues to make strides into one of these best 2026 outfielders in the state. Uncommitted senior 2B Jake Sabo has been nothing but production at Etowah, and will be one the experienced leaders in the lineup. This team is littered with premier underclassmen, and behind the dish will have a real talent in freshman Caden Borcherding, who’s one of the top 50 players nationally in the 2027 class. The Eagles have a tremendous blend of experience and upside, and should be a front runner in the region with final four aspirations yet again.
