The 2024 Georgia high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in mid-May inside one of Coolray Field, AdventHealth Stadium, or JI Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

• The Purple Hurricanes are coming off of a 32-4 record and an appearance in the class 5A Elite 8. The Hurricanes have two big time players Andrew Purdy (Alabama) and Avery Shiflett (Georgia) move in for the 2024 season where they will both be big bats in the lineup and relied upon to get a lot of quality innings on the mound this season. Senior Ryan Johnson will be the Ace of the Starting rotation as he looks to have a standout Senior season. Senior Aidan Larkin (Kentucky) who had a big summer will man up SS and will produce some power at the top of the order. Senior Caleb Daniel (Georgia) will look to be an impact player from the left side of the plate. Sophomore Nate Russell will be a quality young arm in the starting rotation for the Hurricanes, and Freshman Cole Crawford will look to produce in any way for Cartersville this season. The Hurricanes will open the 2024 campaign on 2/15 against Kennesaw Mountain.
