The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Corpus Christi Moody Trojans return a more veteran squad for 2024 after a rebuilding year last season. Led by Coach Joe Curiel, the Trojans will rely on their pitching depth to lead the team this spring.

Leading the charge for Moody this spring will be senior OF/RHP Robert Inocencio (uncommitted), who was First Team All-District in 2023. Joining him in the senior class will be a pair of returning two-way players in INF/RHP Aiden Ramirez (uncommitted) and INF/RHP Aiden Trevino (uncommitted).

In the Trojans’ junior class, three additional two-way players return who could see a lot of innings on the mound this spring in RHP/1B Noah Garcia (uncommitted), RHP/1B Elohim Ramirez (uncommitted), and C/RHP Abram Barron (uncommitted).

Sophomore UTL Ernesto Gonzalez returns in 2024 after seeing varsity time last spring as a freshman. Projected to join Gonzalez on varsity from the sophomore class this year is INF/RHP Landen Trevino, who could factor as a two-way player for the Trojans.

With their veteran team and returning pitching depth, the Moody Trojans will aim to clinch a 5A postseason berth in 2024 after missing out on the playoffs last season.
